Sounds like you didn't use the preload function. I preloaded the files and it came right up on the day of release.

Yea but steam had to verify the files and other junk and that took days, because of the amount of people trying to play

$17.95 may sound like a good price, but I have heard there is only 5-6 hours of gameplay. This is Valves new strategy of releasing "episodes" to really milk the franchise IMO.

You pay roughly the same for a ~2 hour movie so i dont see a problem with it honestly. I just hope that this way they can come out with the next episode faster instead of having to wait a year or so.

It may well turn out to be July 1st, you know how Valve is with release dates :fact:
Though for everyone's sake I hope they do get this one out on time :woot:

Isnt there a way to play HL2 offline once you have gone through all the steam BS?

yes, make sure everything in your list is fully updated, then close steam and unplug your cable. start up steam and pick offline mode.

and as for the steam sucks: i started up the game at exactly 12:04am the day it was released.

anyways though. im not gonna pay for this i might pirate it if i run out of other things to play, but aside from css im thouroughly bored with the way the source engine looks

Except at the movie you pay $18; have a date, and who knows what kind of night it will end up being.
Here, you pay $18 for a nights worth of gaming, another night alone, and a flawed and annoying distribution program.

Actually here in Florida they are $8 regular, $7 student. So for $18 I get a movie, date, and a popcorn.

Movies are only ~$9 here in the US and less than that for a matinee, the $18 figure might have included a drink and popcorn or something...

Edit: Another delayed post, brought to you by J-Mag.

I don't pay to see any movies these days unless I'm 100% it's quality, judged by director, actors, and story. The last two movies I payed for were A History of Violence and Sin City. I'll pay for Episode 1 as long as it gets decent reviews and has some new goddamn models. EA publishing has really made me question it though.

Everyone on the globe will have it unlocked in 15 hrs. 24 mins. and counting.

Until Valve figures out how to flatten the earth, many of our unlock times will be different due to the 24 different times zones. ;)

I don't think so. It goes by Pacific Time. I'm fairly sure that when that timer gets to zero it will be released for everyone.

Leon is kind of like a chick action movie, overrated and boring. It could have been better by first dropping out Natalie Portman and then getting a script more realistic than a John Woo movie.

The figure of $18 was not going off of movies you go see in theators but movies you purchase to own on DVD. When you buy a game you own it so therefore they would take figures from buying to own movies as well.

LOL and you probably could have finished before the west coast usa even had it.

But I imagine the time it's released is a central time and no matter what your local time/date is you can get it.
