Just been looking around on the egg and saw that there are 2 type's of Presler's. BTX Type I / II...

930 Presler LGA775 BTX Type I @ $352
930 Presler LGA775 BTX Type II @ $258
930 Presler LGA775 @ $213

Whats with the BTW Type ones? Whats the difference to a normal 930 Presler?

Thanks.

Is it to do with the heatsink included? Does BTX require a smaller heatsink or something?

just a guess :toast:

He's looking @Newegg. Intel wants that BTX to be the follow up for ATX.

See for more info:

Anandtech (http://www.anandtech.com/casecooling/showdoc.aspx?i=2276)

formfactors.org (http://www.formfactors.org/search.asp?q1=BTX&submit.x=0&submit.y=0)

Intel (http://www.intel.com/pressroom/kits/p4/btx/)

It's developed in times of the Netburst technology, they wanted better airflow for CPU's because you know :D (CPU's were hot).

You also need a special case for BTX, some cases are suitable for ATX and BTX. I woulden't invest in BTX with Conroe not far away.

These heatsinks are freaking HUGE.. as big as your head!!

Type I is taller than Type II.

Look at the original post again ;) :p

I knew it had to be something with the BTX format. Did'nt know why it effected the CPU's though with the different types.

Down to heatsinks then.

I was'nt planning on buying a BTW one anyway at that price. Normal one would do me ;)

Thanks for the info.

I think they come with a "BTX" cooler IE one that blows air across the CPU rather then just down on it. Kinda like the Freezer 7 Pro and the Zalman CPNS 9500 LED things...
