I know power rates may vary, but what would it cost to run my system for a month? Even just a wattage amount would be helpful, as my dad wants me to turn it off in the night, which me less torrenting, and Folding time!:(

Unless you have a highly overclocked P4, you should consume less than 150KWh per month (based on 200W, which probably is an overestimate, since most of the time the graphic card and monitor are ideling/turned off). Now you have to check the KWh price in your electric bills.

Power here is 9c/KWH...So that means 14$ish a month. Hmph.

probably about $13 per month 24/7 if it consumes 200w. Although i doubt it would break 150 watts probably closer to the 100watt mark and be <$10 per month. Can you say how many volts your running through your cpu?

Well the Thermaltake PSU im using Tells me How much wattage im using. But i dont know How acurate it is. it always Hovers around 100watts at Idle and I go to aboit 180-190watts at Load.

And I pay 5.8 cents per kWh. And i use on avg 752kHw per month (w/o AC about 1300kHw(Ouch) with AC) The Computer in my Sig runing 24/7 a AMD900Mhz server runing 24/7 and 2500+xp Runing about half the time. And At lest 3 monitors on and normaly a TV on. So it dosent cost much to Run a Comp 24/7.

He said 9c/kWh and his specs are in his sig. This thread should be useful in telling my dad that keeping the computer on won't increase his bills by $25 lol. He was roughing it out assuming that my comp would take 500W with everything on :stick:

oh, sig must be new lol. I'd venture to say about 180 watts for load (with nothing gpu intensive running), so at 9 cents per kwh he should consume be spending roughly an extra $6.48

So how many watts would be used for let's say, a game running on a non-SLi rig? With an SLi rig?

24/7? you need to know wattage, then convert into kw via multiplying it by 10^-3, then multiply by 24x30 (assuming 30 days are in a month) multiplied by the price per kwh.
