I am on a search to find the burner with the shortest total length. My triple rad mounted in the top of my case causes me to lose the use of a couple of my 5 1/4 drive bays. My standard length Pioneer burners are too long to fit. If I can find a decent optical drive that will fit in this spot I can reclaim some lost space :toast:

NEC DVD burners are the shortest I've ever used. This compared to plextor, liteon and sony.
I own these two. Here's their measurements...
NEC ND-3550A BK RT = 6.50 inches

Liteon SHW160P6S05 = 7.61 inches

Hmm my Pioneer burners are at almost exactly 7 inches. I will have to check up on the Gigabyte to see if it's any shorter than the NEC's.
