There is a new setting called
Core Multiplexing technology (default is enabled)

It is on the main page before Hyperthreading option.

Does anyone know what this technology is? I have not read any articles on it. Anyone provide any links to a good read on it? A quick search at Intel website produces nothing and google was not very usefull.

In the BIOS PDF notes there is a line which may or may not refer to it,
-Added Flex Variable Write Support

Does this have to do with the new "Core" naming scheme associated with Conroe?

Makes me think of reverse HT. Almost sounds like it makes the core work as one.

I highly doubt that's it... just makes me think of that.

i had problem with the new 1073 bios last night, flashed back to 0908. Notice how 1009 is complete gone? it was completely broken by Intel, a lot of the options simply did not work. guess it got pulled.

Well the term "multiplexing" generally is used when sending varied wavelengths along a single medium to increase bandwidth, an example is in fiber optics.

Yes, I noticed it was unavailable when you selected a specific OS but was still available for a while if you looked under the unified OS version. Then this new one came out and it has this new option that is called something different than the -Added Flex Variable Write Support note in the release pdf.

I have not tried it yet. If it only adds support for Conroe and fixes issues I do not have I will stay with 908. But if it adds a performance increase I will go with it.

well ,not much people have the board yet , or conroe for that matter ,so its hard to tell .unless those who have start testing.

I had some big problems with 1009 on my rev 0302 as well, like not being able to change multipliers on ES chip etc. 0908 works like a charm though.
