hi guys,

after i receive my 3rd pair of redlines hp3200 from rma i was happy to test it using memtest86, i was upset because the test showed errors, uping or lowing the voltage doesn't help at all and i have the following summary,

@ 200 mhz 2-2-2-11

2.6V 40++ errors
2.7V 20++ errors
2.8V 12 errors
2.9V 400++ errors
(all tests per loop)

all the errors are on test 5 which makes me upset, i was about the rma it before i had a wild thought, i decided to OC the ram. Running at 220mhz @ 2.8V i have 0 errors, pass 20 loops full test, 10 loops test #5 and 10 loops #8 without any problems. The thing is if i up or lower the voltage it will yield errors. I feel kinda strange as i cannot understand why the ram could not run stock but could run at higher clock speeds with specific timings. Hope the gurus here knows why.

my specs are:
abit nf7-s 2.0 (mataray-xt 2T bios)
mobile barton 2400+ @ 2.2ghz
acbel 400w psu
mushkin redline hp3200 512 x 2
geforce 6600gt

What model are the modules exactly? 991441 or something similar? I believe the HP3200's use 2-3-2-8 timings.. not 2-2-2.

yea it's 991441, still it doesnt explain why it can run @ 220 but not 200
and ch5 should have no problem handling 2-2-2 @ 200 mhz:confused:

Well, most likely yes, but tRCD can be a real pain to tighten sometimes. Did you happen to run the modules at 2.8v at 200MHz also? You should try running them at 2.6v instead to see if that makes a difference. If you put more voltage than the modules want into stock speeds, then that could easily bring you many errors in MemTest.

Edit: I didn't notice you did indeed use different voltages. I blame it on my being sick. </noob>

ch-5 wont usually run 2-2-2 until you give it 3.2v...

i had a similar thing happen with my bh-5, needed to find a sweet spot for the volts, to much at low speeds would give errors and too much at high speeds aslo gave errors.

so from what you mean, it seems that for my condition running 2-2-2 at stock is overvolting? thus 220 mhz is the optimum settings?
