My m8 just bought the Hiper 580w PSU and connected it to his system. Problem is, he connected the 20 pin plug and the 4 pin plug that normally sit flush against the 20 pin he plugged into the part of the motherboard which requires a seperate 12v plug with the two yellow and two black cables going into the plug itself. When it was turned on the PSU lit up and the fan started spinning but the fan lights in the system came on for a split second and went off.
When the system is switched on with the 12v plug connected, it appears to come on fine all the fans are spinning but there is no video signal, no sound of movement from the hard drives and the systems beeps once, then a few seconds later it beeps again etc etc.
The motherboard is a socket 754 Asus K8N. all the other devices were unplugged from the power and the ram and video card was removed but it still did the beeps. I'm currently trying to find PDF manual from the Asus site to find out more about the post test beeps but the Asus site sucks and only half of the thing works.
Does it sound like his motherboard has blown?
