I popped my stock cooler off my 7800gtx because I'm getting temps above 100c. I was checking it out and BFG already puts AS5 on the GPU. I was reading somewhere that it's bad to put AS5 on the memory chips because they are capacative?

Is this true? I hope not because I have already put the AS5 on them and got the thing ready to put back in the case.

that is true. but u can put some artic silver ceramique which is non conductive.

So even though the AS5 isn't dripping off the ram and touching other circuits, it is still a bad idea to use it?

I figured out what is wrong with my temps on my video card. I got the bright idea to stick a mirror in there.

The fan is dead!

I was using AS5 for about 6 months.

You'd be fine AS5'ing the chips as long as the stuff doesn't get to contact with the solder balls.

Thanks for the input. I left the AS5 on there and took that plastic shield off the heatsink. I put an 80mm 60cfm fan right on that heatsink, and I think my temps for that card are 7 degrees lower than the other card.

Hooray!

aint AS5 ment to not be conductive?
