Last night I ordered a D930 and a Scythe Mine cpu cooler. I've been on AMD for about my last 3 or 4 cpu's and motherboards so this is gonna be something. Now, come Monday I will have enough money to buy the motherboard. What are your suggestions? What's the possibility of getting a board with conroe support? How long until they are available?

ASUS P5WD2 (955 chipset) would be a good choice
Or P5WD2-E (975 chipset)
p5wd2 is not 945 but 955x,however I think 945p is a good chipset:)

Well, I want to be able to clock over 300fsb if possible..... Fact is I know the Intel 975 does.....but do others? And as for the Asus Board, is 1 version guaranteed to be a good clocker?

To ensure Conroe support today, you need a rev 304 i975 motherboard. The only board that seems to be even slightly available is the Intel Badaxe. Consider it unlikely that you will find one within the next few weeks. I am also trying to get one as I am ready to upgrade, but haven't been able to get ahold of one yet...

Careful, the rev 304 is a revision to the PCB design of the D975XBX motherboard, it is NOT a change to the i975X chipset.
Therefore you won't be looking for a Rev 304 P5WD2-E or whatever, Rev 304 only applies to the D975XBX.

I see that, but a 304 is gonna be next to impossible to come across any time soon. It's appearing that any other conroe supporting boards are a month or so off. I'm thinkin' is there any decent motherboards in the cheaper range.... i.e. $100-$140, cause I could jump into one of those for now.

Nothing really, simply the only known board with Conroe support is the D975XBX Rev 304.
The P5WD2 is a 955X chipset and seems to be highly rated though.
955 isn't much cheaper than 975, so if price is an issue 945 is the best bet, if it isn't then go 975.

Ok, I ordered up the Asus P5LD2..... Anything I'll need to know, or which bios, etc.

Can you run crossfire on that board ? Or do you need both PCIE slots to be x16 ?
Thanks

Good choise on the board.
I have one and it's a pretty good overclocker (up to 267mhz - and testing now) And I'm using simple 667 ram
I had one issue with it, though: When I've build my comp I couldn't turn off my rig. I mean right after the first boot up i went into BIOS and after turned it off to get my win CD, and the comp TURNED ON BY IT SELF.:stick:
The problem didn't stop even after Bios update and after trying an un hocking everything i tried the simplest thing and pulled the BATTERY and Cleared and CMOS:p:

i could not get higher then 300fsb last time i overclocked my p5wd2 and d920. i am leaning heavily towards it being a ram issue as i only had ddr2-533, and 2gb of it. i am going to be trying again here with some ocz gold ddr2-800 so hopefully no issues hitting 4.8ghz on water.
