this mobo combo from Fry's...
$149 for Pentium D 805 + ECS RL410 mobo
It's a decent ATI chipset with onboard 200M graphics and DDR2 and PCI Express M-Atx board with OC options but no cpu voltage.
I don't have any DDR2 laying around... I need to order some I guess

tell us how that motherboard allows you to overclock as soon as you get the ram

yeah, I'm thinking 3.6ish...
I bought the new Thermalright Ultra-90 cooler for it. It has fsb adjustments and DIMM voltage adjustment. Default voltage is like 1.4v... 3.8gHz would be nice but with 1.4v it ain't gonna happen, lol...
Would make a good folder, ejh?

Thats a nice combo. My 805 would only do 3600 prime stable at stock voltage in a P5ld2. For some weird reason, in one of my asrock mobo, the P D vcore defaulted to 1.2v. This unabled me to overclock it at all as the board didnt have vcore adjustment.
Good luck on your OCing. I am curios to see what that board can do.

The single channel memory arch isn't going to help, either... but hey! The board was FREE, right?

I'll have it fired up tonight... I picked up some DDR2 from Fry's last night.

well here we go... easy to set up. Running into normal problems with budget chipsets...
Get blue screen @ 175mHz probably from DDR2 speeds. I have no control of dividers or ram speed. I have no control over DDR2 timings, in fact no way to even monitor them. There's no Vcore controls and Vdimm only went to 1.90v.
Anyone know of ram tweaker for ATI200 (RL410) chipset?
Or of a hardware monitor for temps?
Or something to control dividers?
thx...

systool
thx, but doesn't do much for the ATI chipset...

ok speedfan works :D
Now I just need something for dividers and mem timings...

hey charlie, nice go with that combo, just curious as to why you didn't opt for the 920 combo for $50 more??
bah nevermind I tried the 920 combo and can't get it to run at 1066 fsb, although I never tried solder...

I think that's the reason why ;)
hm, that board seems only interesting for people who don't want to OC and just want a stable rig ;)

considering the board is free, i'd be happy!
maybe i'll pick up the deal myself..

Well if there's no more tweaking to do... it looks like I'm just about at the end. There's a possibility that the board has a 2:1 divider pre-set. When at 133fsb, it is running at 266 (ddr533) so running at 175 it is 350, ddr700. My DDR2 is rated at ddr533/3-3-3 so maybe it's simply running out of gas @ 700?? Maybe I should try a single stick of pc6400?
This cpu hits 52c at full load... probably not hot enough to limit OC. Probably not the CPU holding me back...

So here's some integrated ATI 200M powah!!! lol... will have new GPU later this week to play with... decent for default volts. 2.66>3450 at 1.3v.

Another issue... no matter WHAT cpu speed... even default, I can't run 2x superPi runs????????
Anyone know why?

Hey Charlie.
Do you have superpi installed in two different locations? If not it won't run two at a time from the same folder.

Hell of a way to neuter an Intel.....lol
Give it half a chance and buy a decent board for it. ;)

As soon as I'm done f** ing with it, it goes in my 12 year old's room, lol...
I've picked up an x850pci-e for it... that should be good enuff for homework and need for speed or whatever he plays, lol...

Hehe, will suggest that to the GF :D Not, she will kill me :p:
Considering the price, its a nice little setup. Good enough for a folding machine. Good overclocks even with that chipset.
You get the X850 XT from Fry's too? How much that cost?
Should yeild good enough performance for Need for speed etc etc...
