Hello all, I have just upgraded my 7800GT to a Powercolor X1900XTX Radeon.
Before the upgrade I could play Oblivion all day without crashing, now within 5-20 minutes oblivion crashes to desktop asking if I want to send this error to microsoft etc :(

I tried the beta 6.3 drivers and now the official 6.4 Cats + CCC. I tried with my cpu speed at default (1800mhz) and overclocked, makes no difference as it crashes the same amount.

I just installed the new card last night but so far everything works except oblivion. Quake 4, 3DMark, WOW all worked okay.

One thing I have noticed is how hot the videocard runs which I knew before purchasing the card may be an issue. Airflow in my case is excellent and heat shouldnt be an issue but my x1900xtx idles around 75-80 Celcius, then under load hits as high as 97 degrees. Is this normal?

I have listed my system specs below, if anyone else has had similar problems (Geforce works fine, Radeon crashes) please let me know.

Thanks!

Thats way too hot. Even when mine had the stock cooler I saw 40 - 45 idle and 80 - 85 load. If you are hitting 97 load and 70-80 idle there is a problem. Thats way too hot.

You might wanna remove the stock cooler and remount it, make sure there is good contact with it.
