Does anyone have experience with Cold Cathodes, particularly red ones. If I spend $15 on a light I want to make sure its red, not pink. Any suggestions?

buy a white one then go to your local art supplies store and buy some red ceran wrap. or wtf is that stuff....the annoying plastic people wrap easter baskets in.
and commence wrapping it around the white cathode until its the color you want. + clear tape = perfect

Thanks for the product tip. I don't want to be more specific, but a dark red would be nice.

I like the Coolermaster brand cathodes, they're very bright and I've heard of people having troubles with other brands.

i also had coolermaster ones, but i had troubles with them! as they were pink . . . . so i would recomend them, just on my experience! get a fatal1ty mobo, built in red LEDs ;)
well I had a lot of lights during my case modding times and if you wanna have red light - take chip lights or so called "meteor lights"

cathodes are mostly pink and really looking like crap.
I switched to 8 uv lights anyway - the effect in the room is simply great :)

So meteor lights > CCs? Btw, I haven't heard much good about the Coolermaster Aurora lights either, apparently they were pink.

I got mine last year from SVC, and they were pink. I emailed some guy on there, and he next day aired me some ACTUAL RED ONES!!!
....I can't for the life of me remember what brand they are, but they look EXACTLY like these.

here they are in my LAN rig, at a huge lan........no editing done. they are red. It was also 1 dual tube kit. I still have them, actually. Took em out after the lan as they were too bright lol.

that is why you use a little heatsink to keep it cool as that guy did also you need only 1 that case only has 1 luxeon and toned it down because it was too bright thos things are nice
This is an old picture of 2 sunbeam (one blue and one UV) both cost me about $5
http://www.magietec.com/omega/silverstone5.jpg
Light look a bit "soft", but it's brighter than that. It's a full tower, I would need a 3rd one (or 2 non UV one) to fill the case, but I like the look the way it is.

I recently got a dual 12" red cathode kit from Frozencpu, i got it for $2.99! they were on sale and i went to the store in person as im in the same state and decided to go on a roadtrip with a friend (NickS) and they are in fact RED not pink or anything and i know what youre talking about, but i think since then they are not the same price and i thre out the box so im not sure of the manufacturer but i think they might have been made by PC Toys. Good luck
Ill try to get a picture for you to judgge for yourself.
