Lets just hope it isn't like the Enterprise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Enterprise) disaster...
Hopefully it lives up to the originals..

Astroboy was on Ctoon not long ago, and it tanked hard.
I want a new series, I loved Next Generation and Deep Space 9.

I didn't think enterprise was that bad, no voyager, god that could put me to sleep in 5 minutes flat. TNG was the best, DS9 wasn't bad either

I couldn't stand either of those shows, too much bad acting all around.

You expect truly good acting from network action shows?
Star Trek was never good. Why do they keep making them? They just get worse...

which ever one had that 7 of 9 girl in it...
that 6 foot tall blond, with the tiny waist, round butt, and nice boobs... in skin tight purple clothes and high heels...
that was the most brilliant tv show ever.
they should just make the next one star trek : 7 of 9's butt in even tight clothes.

I agree. Enterprise was getting better, and the last two or three seasons of DS9 rank up there with the best Space Operas ever (not counting Avery Brooks' over-acting). I have watched a lot of Star Trek in my time (put it this way, I was alive when the original Star Trek series was still being made), and IMHO:
1) TNG - May the Ghost of Shatner forgive me for putting Picard first
2) TOS - Gotta love the short skirts and no hotter green chicks will you find
3) DS9 - Do we remember when Capt. Sisko was 'Hawk' on 'Spencer for Hire'?
4) ENT - T'Pol is as hot as 7 of 9 without the chace of borg nano-probes getting loose
5) VOY - I tried to like Janeway, but just couldn't.

as long as its not like the original star trek or like enterprise or has any links to Kevin Sorbo (either acting or writing or directing or otherwise) then it cant be too bad... I hope.

Loads of people had an aversion to voyager, but I liked it. I still can't figure why anyone liked DS9 though, it was incredible dull with only a few midly interesting plot lines. TNG defo wins in my book.
The problem as I see it is that they are reviving a plot that was dumped because everyone hated it and now they are so lacking in originality that they need the junked plots just to carry on. Dear God let it die already if your going to do that! We need NEW stuff!

Id like another Trek film. Just put some decent space battles in there this time.
Id like to see the Borg again, they are the most awesome Trek race, as long as they don't :banana::banana::banana: the borg up like they did in Voyager.

I laughed my a$$ off when I saw her in "Boston Public" as a school teacher :D.
Wow... I'm hoping it's inline with TNG and DS9(sorry to those who didn't like DS9). DS9 grew on me to the point I actually liked it. Voyager I watched, but it never clicked with me. Enterprise... unfortunetly I couldn't even get into watching.
:woot:
[edit]
Poop... just read the articles... I was hoping for another series. ;)

I grew up on TOS, and it will always hold a special place in my Sci-Fi heart. But TNG effects are obviously better, and the character development is much better, maybe because TNG was allowed to run for years and TOS was only made for two years?

TOS got only ran so short cause it got cancelled and it became a hit years later when they kept showing reruns ofit?
or am i mistaken?
i also liked TNG the most and DS9 on a 2nd spot and Enterprise on a last spot.
i liked TNG due to the good story line and cause for that time (late 80s) the special effects were very nice for a TV show.
DS9 i liked after a few saisons when the story lines became better and once u were familiar witht he setting and area were the story plays.
Voyager, what can i say long legged woman in tight clothing.
i never liked a few persons in Voyager and soemhow it seemed asif the main direction of the show switched to often (hard to explain)
what i didnt like in enterprise was the main story line.
sometimes they took a few episodes to long to get to the point.
Theys hould have spent more time into the starting races of the Federation and should have started with the romulans sooner.

Absolutely... the ORIGINAL Star Trek had a certain "something" the newer ones don't. I can't put my finger on it... but the storylines were better. The newer ones have COMPLEX storylines and just aren't "cozy" like the old ones.

TNG and TOS were great, I never really got into DS9, I found it pretty boring, and I didn't really get into half of the episodes I watched. But I guess I don't really watch it much, only about 10 episodes.

I never got into ST, i'm actually only 95% geek (Havn't acheived 100% status yet),but I am intrigued by JJ/Damon aspect and may have to keep on top of it. When you have the original team behind LOST doing something, in my mind there is a relatively good chance it will be fantastic. :)
That being said, i'm sure some people will be pissed that it will not be along the plot lines of a traditional star trek show/movie, which are all usually fairly similar from what i've seen.
The real question is:
What can they do now that Rick Berman is out?
The guy did everything, all series and movies since at least 1993, possibly longer, and used up his creativity three times over.
I think he is single-handedly responsible for the decline of Star Trek. I will never understand why they did let him make several parallel efforts instead of spreading the effort to cover a wider audience and have more redundancy in case he quits, gets hit by a bus (full of fans) or generally screws up (check on that).

I think we need to subject you to a three week intensive ST therapy..
So that you fully achieve True Geek.. Aka Nerd

Perhaps indeed. 3 weeks should allow me to level up to true nerd status.

If it has to do with Kirk & Spock at the Academy, I highly doubt I'll waste my time watching this.
