Hi,

I have ordered the following:

Opty 170
DFI Ultra SLI D
7900gtx
2g Gskill pc4000

I would like to get the cpu up to 2.8ghz so wondered what hsf to go for.....

I was thinking of a zalman 9500 as I have heard these are very good until someone told me this:

"It is a bit better for socket 775 but they don't fit 939 very securely so the cooling is worse/only on par.

The arctic freezer 64 pro comes with MX1 paste pre applied that matchs AS5"

Is this true?

Please advise comments

Thanks in advance

Cheers!!!

I got a nice fit on both socket 479 and 939.
Does an excellent job of cooling my 4GHz pressie.
I know people have been getting mixed results, but mine is the best heatsink i have ever used.

several tests i've seen show that with AMD Freezer (64) Pro beats Zalman 9500 by small margin.

but with Intel, things seem to be different, and the difference isn't small. one could say that Zalman smokes Freezer (7) Pro there...

here's an example: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/arctic-cooling_8.html

Overclocked my 3.0 pressie to 4GHz and under full load the temp never goes above 50C, and i'm pushing 1.5 through it.
So i got better results than X-bit did considering the hot, humid conditions i have here in Hong Kong.

They are about the same, but the Arctic Pro 64 is way cheaper than the Zalman 9500 which in my oppinion is a better deal.

If it works so well in Hong Kong, i would love to see what it can do in the artic :D
