since dfi insist on using crappy hermal goo for thier chipset heatsink compound i was forced to takeoff the chipset hsf and put artic silver on it (my temps idle with the goo was 55 cel!). but.... i slipped and broke two copper traces.
how would i go about fixing these? they are very small and it looks like it'll be very hard but i want to give it a try. so any help?

You could bridge the gaps very slightly with a fine soldering iron.

well, that'll be very hard since i don't have a very solder point... but i'll attempt it.

Hey jarrod...too bad about that we'll play with it today for sure when I get off work, try moving this to the AMD section or general hardware section, would probably get more help.

edit: yes I am at work :D

You can sand down your point. I buy those cheap bulk packs at radio shack and sand and cut them down to make all sorts of custom tips.

Thats what I did when I modded my PS2. I gorund down the tip to a very fine point since the wire I was using was like 30 guage or smaller.

Depending on how much load the lines are talking and how sensitive they are this will work:

Go into a shop (or website) that sells accessories for model railroads. They use conducting paint to provide power to e.g. the rear lights on model trains.

That conducting paint is much easier to apply than doing soldering. Not as good electrically but most of the lanes on the motherboard are not that sensitive.

Get some copper wire and soldier it to each end of the traces, then cover it with electrical tape. It will work iv done it before

hotglue works pretty well too, but might end up ripping the traces again if you hit it

Maybe, go to radio shack and get a conductive paint pen,its for fixing /making small electrical traces on pcb's ,etc..(i use it to unlock all my L5 bridges on my older Amd proc's)works killer ,everytime. Here's the link, good luck with it....

I took copper wire and soldered it to each end of the traces after I had scratch them, then cover it with electrical tape.......:)
