I have 2 7900 GTX's in SLI... and 1 X1900 XTX.
the 7900 GTX's were my main card, till I started to play oblivion and saw that Nvidia completly sucks for that game, and sees little to no benifit from the SLI and I had to run lower resolutions... and no HDR with the 7900's then I could with a single XTX... so out they went, and in went my X1900.

well, I wanted to play something different today, and reinstall Serious Sam 2. a game which I know plays great on my 7900's... but runs like absolute garbage on my XTX.

what gives?
this card can't be that bad at this game can it?

it's stuttering, pausing, slowing down, and generally looks like crap, cause there appears to be no use of anisotropic filtering at all...

there appears to be a partial fix, by disabling 1 core...
but what gives?
why does the game run great on my 7900's with both cores, and look great, and play smooth as butter, with AA and such just fine?

yet my XTX can't even get into the menu smoothly, unless I drop down to 1280x800 and disable 1 core... and even then, the game looks like it's not even using AA at all... and looks like crap...

is there a fix out there for this, cause this is a ridiculously bad "glitch" for a card this powerful.

SS2 version 2.066

I read an article and tried it myself that you can actually get the game to run in OGL instead of DX. I know, I know, you think the ATI card would do worse in OGL mode over Nvidia based cards but that isn't the case. Try and find some info on switching it to OGL and you will see the game run much, much better. It did for me on my X1k cards, both X1800 and X1900. It has something to do with renaming a couple files to get it to work, it's real easy but unfortunately I no longer have the info saved. Hope it helps if you can find anything.

That's funny... since I was able to play this game with best quality settings with my 6800GT and setup in my sign, cept I lowered AF to 8x or 4x later on, but would run fine with 16x too as long as there's not a buttload of enemies on screen. With AF4x the fps never seemed to go below 40 fps or so even with lotsa enemies on screen and I didn't have any stuttering at all, was running very smooth or let's say with good IQ....

This is game is an Nvidia lover when u check benchmarks but heh X1900XTX should run it 100+ fps anytime with best quality settings u would think.

isn't this game suppose to be able to do HDR and AA at the same time?

yea and that may be the problem. Maybe with the XTX the game is doing HDR and AA which is a huge performance hit. With the 7900GTX it's probably not using HDR and AA. Just a theory - I tried the SS2 demo and didn't think it was interesting enough to bother with so I don't have any experience with the game other than that. You might wanna checked around the rage3d.com forums?
