That is not even remotely a surprise. I don't think this classifies as news.. it is stuff we all should know.

It took me 20 minutes per rig to get rid of all the :banana::banana::banana: they loaded on for the 2 I setup on my gaming LAN... Total annoyance.

Pretty much all commercial systems now come with loads of junk software preloaded. If you want it clean, build your own image and ghost.

yeah a lot of it comes with AOL and all that crap, but I have NEVER seen anything like this on a gray-box computer

Low level format does an excellent job of removing all traces of Crap

exactly why i wont buy a dell. now if i could convince my dad to do the same... he wont even let me reformat for him.

first thing i ALWAYS do when i buy a laptop or a family member has a prebought computer, is clean format with retail XP.

Every Dell laptop I've purchased (3 in the last year) I've turned on for a few minutes then did a full format and reinstall. Man, they just have so much crap preinstalled.

Although old news, it deserves all the attention. Big shame on Dell. Never liked the Dells much anyway.
