Holy hell, $400 for a 2GB kit of DDR2? Is there really that much of a shortage of RAM, or is Kingston just REALLY proud of thier products?

nice opinion!:) Kingston made bad price!

Hmm let's see how the 2Gb DDR kit scales, maybe that's my next purchase. I'm sticking to 2x512 BH-5 ~250 2-2-2-5 until something simmilar appears in 2x1Gb.

2-2-2-5-1T for a regular 2 gig DDR kit?
isn't that a first?
I seen tons of companies release cas 2-3-2-5 and such, but never 2-2-2 for 2 gigs of DDR yet...

Maybe Micron chips - those are capable of 400@2-2-2-5
Or maybe those "UTT" OPB reviewed recently

I seen tons of companies release cas 2-3-2-5 and such, but never 2-2-2 for 2 gigs of DDR yet...Yes but those 2-3-2-5 scale really bad. At least the OCZs Gold XTC (only looked at reviews, never tried so take this with a grain of salt :) )

Or maybe those "UTT" OPB reviewed recentlyAre there 1Gb UTTs? Are they something alike, hence you "UTT"? :D I thought 512Mb was the highest density for UTT dimms. Please could you point me to the OPB review?

I thought micron would do 2-2-2-x to around 205 mhz, maybe just a little super binning.

If I am not mistaken OCZ has PC3200 in 2-2-2-5 under their newest revision.

UTT spells for undefined bla bla bla :D but as I remember OPB used Infineon/Aeneon ones. Can`t find that review of him. There`s just too many posts by OPB.

The DDR2 kit looks really nice for my conroe setup :D But the 2GB kit is expensive :( And what IC's would it have? Micron D9?

And that's the problem, too many post to search for "OPB UTT review" "OPB memory review" <- that's his main topic :D

I must be blind... I dont see any Low Latency DDR2...
I see standart 4-4-4-12 @ PC6400 2*1GB...
Crucial Ballistix, Patriot, G.Skill all sells the same... But at (275$, 234$, 245$)...
393$, they must be out of their mind..

I think they're still too use to how much money they rake in from idiots who shop at best buy... $199 for 1 gig 2.5-3-3-8 at DDR400 ring any bells?

Well those sticks require only 2.0V which is smaller than usual PC6400@4-4-4-12. But than again there are plenty DDR2 rams capable on 800@4-4-4-12 and even tighter timings for less the price

hehe, I think Patriot + G.skill is 2.0v as well, ballistix 2.1v :)

UTT = untested... usually an unmarked/unbinned IC ;)
there's a couple possibilities.. infineon/aeneon CE (maybe BE?), micron 5b D (5b F doesn't seem like it does 2-2-2 often enough to make sense), but with crucial stopping 1gb ballistix production, there should be a lot more 5b D IC's floating around, maybe enough to make this. who knows. ;)

Ozzi so you mean all those problems with Micron rev.D will be back with those Kingston ? Heh. Nice anti-ad :D

When's it due to be released onto the market? Should be interesting to see how it clocks.
Mr Cynical bets 45 cookies that the 2 GB at stock timings 2-2-2-5 are some communications screwup and the product will be 2-3-2 :)

i think those issues may have gone away.. notice that NONE of the .16TD1 ballistix have died yet. it may have been a PCB issue with the ballistix after all.
either way, time to start poking about to see what 64mb IC's can do 2-2-2 at 200mhz :fact:

Those DDR2 modules need better timings than that...
i should be getting a set of the KHX3200ULK2/2G within the next week or so :woot:
anyone got anymore info on them?

Hmm, I think (almost) all Corsair 2x1GB PC4400 Infineon CE-5 can do 2-2-2-5 @ 200, so yes it is pretty high binned, but not impossible though.:)

In the datasheet for KHX3200ULK2/2G (http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KHX3200ULK2_2G.pdf) they have the following line:
Timing Reference: 3-3-3-8 at +2.6v / 2-2-2-5 at +2.7v
Does this mean if you fire up the board with auto-detect for memory timings SPD will set default at 3-3-3-8?
I haven't seen any Infineon based 2gig kits of DDR with a tRCD of 2 either. But I'd still guess thats what we're looking at. If so, since Kingston doesn't sell a 2gig set of PC3500 or PC4000 so maybe these kits have a broader OC results than companies who bin for higher rated speeds.
Too bad Kingston never seems to have good prices through their site or from their retail partners. Even with a 25% coupon (they used to include them with games) they're a little pricey. Don't see how they'll sell them with other compnaies offering their own low latency PC3200 2gig kits for less than $140 after rebates or PC4000 at 3-4-3 for less than $200 after rebates.

remember OPB's infineon/aeneon sticks that broke 300mhz 3d stable and did 250mhz at 2-3-2? i don't think those could even do 2-2-2 at 200mhz. i really don't think it's infineon, but i guess we'll see ;)

I followed those threads and unless I overlooked something I don't think I have seen a 32M superpi with that.
the only 2gb kit i've ever seen do 2-2-2-5 was the ballistix  and the 3-3-3-8 timings look a little familiar http://img457.imageshack.us/img457/4312/heehee8my.gif
i'm kinda hoping for some really good microns

Nor have I, the Closest I have seen is 2.5-2-2-5 but 2-2-2-5 T1 for 1Gb sticks are Rarer than gold these days.
Now if a Company could get sets to say 250Mhz with that tight timing.. They would make a killing with Benchmarkers.

does it? 3-3-3-8 is JEDEC standard at 200mhz after all.. :toast:

I guess we are both right; In this (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=88354) thread I found a quote:
I've also screwed up the OS a few days ago, cause I was trying to run 32M at cas 2-2-2-5 -1T at 215 at 1:1 .... and it didn't like it and corrupted.
since then, I can't get Sisoftsandra to work, so no bandwidth tests yet.
but I can reinstall windows, if anyones real curious to see that.
So I just made the conclusion myself, that 200 2-2-2-5 is possible...:slap:, but I haven't see a screen of it so until then you're right!:)

4-4-4-12 is lower then standard JEDEC latency for DDR2-800 which is 5-5-5-15 :D.
But nothing special to me about 4-4-4 jsut seems to match everybody else and Kingston is very expensive :stick:
