Intel decided to present 965 series chipset earlier as motherboards manufacturers report. P965 will support upcoming Conroe processors with 533, 800, 1066 MHz FSB along with DDR2 up to 800 MHz effective speed. Comparing to 975X series P965 won`t have double pci-e 8X slots for CrossFire.
Also Intel will introduce 945PL chipset mainly for budget or compact systems. It`ll support low-end Conroes with 533 and 800 MHz FSB and only 2 DIMMs of DDR2 533 or 667 MHz. P965 will be used with ICH8 SouthBridge but 945PL with current ICH7.
