I have an order placed for a XFX 7900GT 550/1630MHz through NCIX (Canadian), however, they will only have the XFX 7900GT 520/1500MHz one in stock. I have already been waiting almost a month. Would there be any reason to get the one that is clocked higher at stock, or should I switch? Keep in mind that I have a NV Silencer 5 for it and will do the 1.4 Volt mod. Will the final Overclock be significantly higher with the 550/1630 card?

Personally, I'd get the higher clocked card. For one reason. When I ordered my 7600 I ran into the same problem, it was out of stock, so it was either wait, or order the lower clocked card, I waited. The only reason being, with the higher clocked card, you are guranteed that the card will run those clock speeds. I'm sure the other card will hit those speeds no problem, but what if it for some reason don't?? They typically will both have all the same components on them(same IC's, etc.), though sometimes as in my case ordering the XFX XXX Edit., they will sometimes use a specific higher speed IC on the card, so it hits the advertised overclock speeds easily. I would seriously wait for the other card to be in stock. Yea, waiting sucks, but look at the difference, the 30 point difference on the core is no biggy, it's the memory speed that I'd wait for, 1500 vs. 1630, chances are the other card running the 1630 memory speeds may have higher speed IC's on it. But, it's up to you bud, but I'd wait if ya can. Just my opinion.

I am going to be doing to 1.4V mod with an aftermarket cooler, so I wonder if it will make at difference at that higher level? I expect around 650MHz on the core and 1800+MHz on the memory.

30mhz on core and ram is NOTHING to pay extra money for, especially if you are going to vmod the card. just get the lower clocked/cheaper one.
