It looks like about the right spacing for hard drive mounts, but the mounting screws don't seem to line up with anything

Wow, I was just about to post something similar............maybe we can both get answers. :D
Mine is from a Lian-Li also, the PC-65. What the heck is the thing in the middle? On the box for the case it said hidden drive something, but I can't figure out where the heck to put it....

I have a piece like that one that is used in the removable hard drive bay to mount the drives horizontally rather than vertically.

Looks like the plate that you use when you have a dual P4 xeon 800FSB system. That plate mounts to the surface that you attach the motherboard to. The Heatsinks screw through the motherboard into that plate.
Nice to see that Lian Li is finally sending them with the cases. My PC 70 didn't come with one. Had to get one from supermicro.;)

wow! finally i know WTF that random plate is! after 4 lian li cases, i never even coulda guessed that it was a xeon HSF mounting plate
but that other one that Slayer2k3 posted is the "thing" that you put inside the HDD rack if you'd prefer to have your hard drives mounted horizontally

What the heck is the thing in the middle? On the box for the case it said hidden drive something, but I can't figure out where the heck to put it....It bolts into the middle of the hard drive cage, so you can mount the drives horizontally as opposed to vertically.
