View Full Version : Ultra-D Dram voltage reading +10?

Edit: That's +.1

Sorry I need to do a search on this. I've recently changed from my expert to an Ultra-D board. When I set my dram to 2.8v in bios, it actually seems to be reading 2.92v. I'm now setting it at 2.7v =2.8

Can anyone tell me what's going on? Not sure which to believe.

Thanks.:)

ps. This seems to be consistent across the few bios versions I have tried.

I think you should trust the reading, the DRAM sensor seems to be dead on from my experience.

You could always measure it with a DMM just to be sure though

Cheers for the response.

Well I don't have one of those. I have looked.

I'm reading another post, and a guy did test with an MM and what you are saying is spot on. His findings were that the reading was the one to go on. Not the setting.

The positive is that the vcore readings he found to be very accurate.

Yeah, go for a DMM to make sure... my readings for Vdimm when i set on bios 2.8v are like 2.68~2.70v... with a DMM I can see 2.77v~2.79v...

As the Ultra-D is a cheaper board than the Expert one, they probably use cheaper sensors...

I set 2.8 in bios and get 2.867v under load (measured with DMM), 2.84v in Smartguardian, and 2.88v in BIOS

So BIOS is pretty close..

smartguardian/MBM is not

Yeah BIOS is what I meant. 2.6= 2.66 in BIOS and 2.66 DMM for me

Yeh, I dont understand why the readings in windows are always diff to the bios.. they're both coming from the same (ITE) monitoring chip and sensors... just doesn't make sense..

cheers for the feedback peeps.:) I'll keep playing it safe at 2.7, and when I do get the opportunity I'll pick up a multimeter. An important bit of kit by the looks of it.

I made a thread about this a while ago.
Mine is at .12v overvolt.(set to 2.7, shows 2.82 on DMM)

Indeed, though it's not spiking so i think it's safe to say its just offset by alot.
I found a pretty comfortable spot at 2.6 = 2.77 + .03 = 2.8 exact w/ dmm.
