Well i just got the 3700 San Dieago and it doesnt come with any thermal interface material. Just a heat pad. I have heard your not supposed to use
a heat pad on AMD64's. Is this true?
I quit using Artic Silver cause it made a mess on the CPU. Does the new Artic
Silver do the same thing?
Anyway should i get some TIM or just use the pad?
Thanks for the help

Yeah get some AS5 or ceramique. I guess I'm not understandning this "heat pad" idea. Is it the same one that came on the stock hsf? You can use that just fine but won't work as well as the arctic stuff.

It should be ok. If your not planning on ocing, the stock TIM should be fine.

I personally prefer using some form of thermal compound besides the stock heatpad thing, even if you aren't overclocking, your computer will enjoy the lower temperatures. I doubt it'll be 10-15 *C, but even 2-3*C lower is better than nothing.

Does Artic Sillver 5 still make a mess on the CPU?

Well yeah but you don't need to put that much on and some alcohol with wipe it right off.
