View Full Version : Pentium 4 OCing
This is my system:
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
Pentium 4 3.20E (D0) + Zalman CNPS7700-Cu
2x Team Group 512 PC4000
Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 XT PE + Zalman VF700-Cu
Now I'm running the CPU @ 3.57, FSB 223 and ram timings 2.5-3-3-7. < Stable
The system is not stable above 223 FSB. Prime95 crashes or there is an error.
Any suggestions how to make the system stable above 223?

Try increasing vCore a bit? Those Prescotts run hot, so make sure your temps are low enough.

I have had bad experience with the D0 overclocking.... 3.6GHz seemed to be the wall....

I have a DO that will just manage 3.8ghz but it needs 1.475V to be perfectly stable.

4.0GHZ was my max, though it was a pretty good one, a SLE75 I think. Simple cooling with an XP-90c. It did 4.2GHz stable with simple water cooling.
What are your temps and vcore.
Default vcore. Temp idle 40c load 57c.

3.57GHz is the max bootable clock for my 2.8C Northwood as well ;)

every prescott ive had seemed to max out at around 4.0-4.2 with a celeron 4389mhz suicide shot. im guessing it would take either dry ice or LN2 to get the ones i had any higher.

Dude, you need much better cooling :stick:
Owned a 3.2E SL7E5 once, 4.2 Ghz @ 1.6v half bench-stable.
4.00-4.05 prime95 stable @ 1.52v

got a P4 3.0D0, team xtreem TCCD DDR600, n a P4p800 E Dlx, running @ 3.75Ghz prime stable...idles about 50c, i know its pretty hot, as i am from Malaysia, room temps are about 25-27...i am using an XP120 btw..with juz a normal TT fan, if i use the NMB which churns bout 200cfm of air, idle temps drops to about low 40's...
max i reached was @ 4.0Ghz, benchable @ 3.825Ghz....juz sharing my results...
I got my CPU stable @ 3633MHz, vCore 1.450v.
But now the +3.3v is not so stable. Going as low as 2.9.

You might want to consider backing off on volts until you can get a new PSU then, preferably one that's a little beefier.

I have a Tagan TG480-U01.
