hi guys, seen as i have only ever fitted the intel kits i was wondering if there is a tutorial around for the amd 64 easymod kit.

Also a couple of questions if i may:

1. Is it best to leave the heater off the back of the mobo?
2. Can someone explain about the dielectric grease how to apply.
reasons for this is i just bought an fx-60 and wanna swap from my 775. Spent a fortune on the parts and really dont want to mess this up

thanks in advance
chris.

ok with the dielectric grease just smear it al in the socket filling in all the pin holes, you can even smear some around the socket if you are worried put some between each layer of neoprene will fill any gaps between layers.

this is the mounting braket u need to make out of plexi or wood your choice it will allow you to mount the head on a64. taking the heater off the back will give you better temps but just replace it with a layer of dielectric grease and some neoprene

poketbike I think you misread that 1 mate, I think he already has the A64 mounting just doesnt know how to fit it.

All of the mounting kits supplied by ECT attach the same way. If you've used an Intel one, the A64 is pretty much the same from my past experience. I wouldn't know about the latest latest ones as I now use Kayl evaps on my units.

Yeh the AMD64 kit has diffent parts than the 775, i.e a metal plate. (backplate?)

Thanks for the tips on the grease heres what i intend to do.

Back of Mobo:

silicone spray/or dialectric grease? with a layer of neoprene over it, then backplate with heater inside.

Front of mobo: dialectric grease in the chip holes (with paint brush). Silicone spray over main cpu area. Neoprene cut out and places on top of chip area.

Then attatch mach 2 as normal

What you think guys?

oh p.s

Will the grease and siliconespray void the board/cpu warranty, any removal tips?
Does the silicone spray just peel?
just curious.

cheers again

you can get special stuff to remove silicone spray i would say its not neccassary just use dielectric grease which you can remove easier if u need to rma

I spent an hour on my knees with a scrubbing brush and pure acetone getting silicon conformal coating off my mainboard for RMA. Not worth it, fine without it. WILL void your warranty, if they see it, it'll come straight back to you.

dielectric grease in the socket also voids your warranty, it is cleanable but if they pop the socket (easy to do) and see grease inside, you're out of luck again.

Usually if you want to 100% secure against condensation you're going to have to consider the board a write-off if it dies.

Just checked the AMD kit and there are no screws, Is it just held on with the seal string?, doesnt the evaporator head pull this off when tight? im confused!

cheers for the replies btw

There should be 2 screws like on the LGA kit.

You can use the ones from the LGA kit as in essence they all use the same kit anyways lol. The metal plate is the new replacement for the plastic one on the older kits. It's ment to make the kit last longer but as pointed out by mav on EPUK its a stupid idea. Just wrap it in electrical tape and you should be fine.
