I think what happened, was just like World of Warcraft changed from an adventure-roleplaying game based on the life of Thrall the Orc to a MMORPG, Starcraft Ghost as morphed into the upcoming World of Starcraft (yeah you read right), seen here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofstarcraft/news.html?sid=6146918

I swear to god, its :banana::banana::banana:ing APRIL 1st.

Starcraft Ghost - HAS BEEN - scrapped though, about a week or two ago. They will be doing a port over to Xbox360/PS3. Back at BlizzCon 2005 I was able to go and play the Multiplayer aspect and talk to the head dev of the xbox version of the game. Long story short it was a very complete game, but, the xbox and PS2's limit put a hard strain on the game. The maps were VERY small for MP, and there was only 2 main game modes. Also what might have put people down is that there was a very limited number of class and vehicles in the game. (Almost felt like a Halo clone).
