Hello everybody,

i have some questions about wether i should go DD or with a chiller. i hope this is the right area to ask, please inform me if it isn't.

1. what are the time differences on start up to get down to working temp?

2. I was thinking about cooling the CPU/GPU/NB do i really need to for the overclocking? (i have just overclocked on air and only the CPU so far)

3 I want the final product to be able to fit inside my computer case, although it will probally take a few tries but im in this for the long haul.

4. i don't really care about going to extreme lows in temp at load, but i do want to be able to overclock alot i know you have to lower temps to get the gain but does it have to stay down or is it able to have really good overclock at around 0c?

5 if i bought a DC compressor from like Danfoss how much power do they actually suck and is it possible to power them off of like a 600w PSU?

6 with DD does the compressor run all the time?

well there are just a few lol im sure more will be answered with replies, i will probally get just as many new ones though. i am going to start tearing down an old dehumidifier soon to start playing around with maybe a chiller, but i would still need to buy WC components so if i get the better performance from the DD and am still able to overclock the Vga i might go that way, thanks in advance

1) depends on unit, single stage can be bout 30 seconds.

2) NB is pointless, air is fine.
Gpu is if you want to massively clock your gpu
Cpu is if you want to clock it.

If you want to cool cpu/gpu your going to need a dual evap or two singles.

3) Depends on your case, going to need a big tower.

4) Thats all really relative.

5) You'd run it off a 2nd psu definetly. Wattage is relative to amperage on different rails. ALso DC compressors are very small, not enough for todays cpu's.

6) Yes.

okay well i was looking at doing some pretty decent overclocks, but if i can get away with only cooling the CPU that would be cool, although i was hoping to get rid of alot of fans since i dont like noise. hey theres another question how noisey is the typical compressor, cause if it is running all the time and noisey i dont think i would like that. would just 1x120mm fan in the back take care of the NB?

how much harder is it for the dual evap set-up i know people wanted to do a 3 evap but thats really hard, is the dual just as bad?

the reason i was looking into a chiller was the fact that the compressor would not have to be on the whole time therefore saving money and noise?

thanks again

Hard to get a large enough compressor and balance the evaps.
Danfoss are quite, others can be noisy or hummy.

A good DD unit, if u shop around for a quite compressor, is no louder, if not , quieter than an average fridge.
And as for your NB, i would definatly recommend something like a little 40mm fan mounted directly on your NB heatsink if you plan any decent oc'ing.

really only very large recip compressors and rotary compressors are noisy, and it would be hard to cram a chiller into a typical case.

i forgot to mention the fact that i usually have my computer on 24/7 so does this have any effect on it what so ever? thanks

If you want to cool more then one object make a chiller. A well made chiller is not far off a dual head dd.

energy consumption is also a factor, even a very small compressor uses at least 2-3 amps so that's around 300 watts to add to the power bill, even more if it's a larger compressor.

I have to disagree with that, I'm running a dual evap, and the evaps leveled out around -50.3 and -50.5 with about 9.5ft of cap each. As long as everything is setup right you can get them balanced first time :)
