Hey Everyone.
I just put together a new system last night because i was bored and had some old components lying around.
It comprises of an OLD Celeron 2.4 (128K cache 100Mhz FSB)
Thats on an unmoded P4P800 Deluxe (i think it is a P4P800Delux anyway.. it was before i sent it in for RMA.. looks a little different though)
256Mb BH5 ( Wierd stick.. the chips are marked BH5 but the sticker on the stick says PC3200, i thought most BH5 was like PC2700?)
GF2 GTS 64Mb graphics card.
Samsung 4.3Gb hard drive..
Liteon DVD drive..
Some cheap Q-Tec power supply..

It is watercooled.. (had a spare case that had a full WC setup in it already!)
At the moment i have it runnign at ~3.3Ghz.. Seems to be stable but i'm runnign linux and dont have any torture test software for it (suggestions? )
V-Core is set at 1.750 in bios.. but acording to hardware monitor it is actually pumping 1.8V into the cpu.. So first question.. what is safe v-core on water? in bios the CPU temp dosnt go above 25*C and the case temperature is about 28*C.. case temp WAS 42 and the system was unstable but i put a fan pointing at the northbridge (Was too hot to touch) and it came right down and runs fine now..
Any other idea's how i can squeeze a bit more out of it?
also anything like MBM for linux?
I dont REALLY want to kill the CPU but it's not like it would be a great loss if it did die so i might try and pump some more volts through it and see what happens..lol..
Thanks,
Owen

The old northwood's can die from +1.75V
Even sub zero cooled chips can die when getting more then 1.75v its just a little to mutch for 24/7.
(on the other hand there are people that ran it for a verry long time whitout problems)

You can bench @ 1.85v or something but dont do that for a long time.
(after that they only get hotter)
For 24/7 stay under 1.7V to be perfectly safe.

I would go around 1.65 for 24/7 usage, if you're name isn't hipro5 :D

Pfffff, I used to put 2.05v through my Northwood 1.6A for 3D Marking ;)

God bless the TH7-II

lol.. my chips were all £3 car boot sale bargains anyway! :D so it isnt too important if they die. i just like how the celerons seem to run really cold in this rig no matter how much voltage i shove through them.. still, im happy with it at the moment, I want to try my celeron 2.4 mobile i have lying around.. but the last one i put in a system i crushed the core with the waterblock so im not really too sure if i should or not.. any ideas how i can protect the core easily? mabey some of the neoprene pads from an old athlon xp or something?
Many thanks,
Owen
