i currently have a stock machII gt and was wondering if there was a way to get the evap to make contact with the core. do i need to put a diffrent evap head on it or is there something i can do to the stock assembly to get better contact?

You could use copper plate between core and evap.

well i have a copper coldplate but was going to try to get direct core contact if possible. just didnt know if i needed to modify the evap assembly or put on a new evap head.

you could try filing down the mounting studs and screws, but to be honest ou'd be better off with a new evap...

u need only 10$ not more for what i did.
i used some thin steel plate (about L:20cm B:5cm) and bend it over the evap and filled the holes of the evap with sealstring then i insulated with Armaflex or u can use some tape doesnt matter and get it benden right so you can drill 1 hole in each end.
VOILA finsished u dont need heatpad u dont need sealstring u dont need anything than some insulation. its called the dirtyseconds mount :D no its not a joke it works perfect and i m using this modded mach2 unit for over 1 yeahr like this.

what i needed to do:
-file down the 4x "studs" on the mobo mount plate
(IIRC i needed to lap another 1/32" or so more than the studs stuck out...down to the point where the metal edges were about even with the plane of the mounting plate)
-cut up a Credit Card and shim the metal "plate" so there was less play in that connection
-file down the lip around the head (clam shell)
-make foam insulation sheets rather than silly-string
-use shorter screws to mount the head (the stock ones will bottom-out B4 good contact)
here is a pic of most of that...

On Intel 775, you can remove the flip lid on the CPU socket very easily, not sure about AMD
