Is sli on 975X possible?

Hello Guys,
i am new in the sli and multi gpu scene and have a question.
I`ve heard about a sli-patch, which makes run many non sli platines, sli ready.
And Big_Bam (i think that was his name) had a running system with an 5ghz Pentium 4 and 2x7800GTX with 955X chipset (without this downloadable patch).
Now my question is, if i can run sli with 975x, this patch and a special driverversion or modded driver by someone (maybe someone can compile me one of the new drivers)
The cards I`d use are 7800gt or 7900gt...
My board is an Gigabyte Ga-G1975X.
Bios is the F3 (newest).
It would be nice if someone could answer me this question ^^

On our [Tea M-Kart0shka]`s P5WD2-E (i975X) we are running 2x7800GT and have no problems whatsoever with SLI. You don`t need any extra drivers...

That would be perfect if that works...do you have any registy `hacks` or something else?

You should understand, that it is impossible to bypass MB_Capable procedure in the driver without modifications and this parameter cannot be corrected by hands in the register.

Options are

1) You work it out for yourself using Internet

2) You say PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ..... PLEASE PLEASE to Big Sam who has told other people to use option 1) :D

3) You think of another way that does not involve a public furm and relies on people helping you out to which you are very grateful and will reply in kind.

I know which option I would go for ! ;)

Man this is SOOOOOO old, yes it will work, NO the people who have the ability to share how it works WONT.... End of story.....

So, if we "dont" need special drivers, just how does this feat of "magic" actually work?? Most of the INTEL community is just dying to know...

I think, I`ll buy me the 7800gt`s now and I`ll test it then :D
It would be nice, if TaPaKah could tell us, which drivers they used :D
And it would be nice,too, if screwtech02 tells us more about the meaning of the first sentence (because my english suxx :()
Are 2 7800gts enough for 2 Years Gaming in High - Detail or has someone a 7900gt, which he wants to exchange with my x1800xl.
I would pay some extra money ^^

don`t waste yer money on 7800GTs. For that money you should go get 2x7900GTs or 1x7900GTX. It would be muuuch faster...

The Second 7800GT would be a birthday present in may ^^
I am looking for someone who has a 7900gt and who wants to exchange it against my x1800xl...i would pay extra money...
Or someone who wants to buy my x1800xl...

exchange yer card for 7800GT, sell it -> buy 7900GTX for birthday (7800GT SLI will not be good because not all programs there are now will use both graphics)
My OS is very light WinXP SP2 (uses only 75MB of page file if nothing is running in the background) Gives some extra points in benchmarks.

I think there are enough games and benches, that use SLI...
Thats not the prob...
The prob is:
- runs it?
- what to tweak in win
- where to exchange x1800xl to 7900gt (7800gt are lots of offers)
- x1800xl ----> 7800gt and sell then would be a step back for me because they want to exchange 1:1...
- crossfire mastercards are too expensive...
- who wants to buy a 4month old x1800xl?

For benchmarks 7800GT SLI is better but in real life 7900GTX is yer choice

1.You trade NOW yer X1800XL ->7800GT
2.use 7800GT till yer birthday
3.on yer burthday sell yer 7800GT ->7900GTX !

Tested single 7900GTX (waiting for second to arrive).
Without any OC it`s not worse that 7800GT SLI (it loses only in 3DMarks).
And you know how good does it OC...

This plan with 7900gtx wont work, because my parents dont wanna give me money...so i think i ll try 7800gt sli, and if it suxx, i sell the cards and buy a 7900gtx :D
