Excuse me for such a stupid question but I just can't get this thing on!
I've tried putting the support clips like this --\___/-- but they touch the dothan adapter and I don't want to damage it

then I turned them around and they were like this __/---\__
but the cooler just dangles about 0.5cm above the cpu I can't seem to get it down

How did some of you guys do it, with longer bolts or something?

thanks!!!

Just move the bracket on the heatsink up. There are two more holes on the heatsink just above where it is mounted. If you do this it is a perfect fit.

Just don't install the little spacer things for the screws. Screw the HSF directly to the bars, perfect fit.

I moved the bracket one hole up (there are two total) and did not use the spacers for the screws. The heatsink fit on the cpu perfectly, however when I tighten the screws to the bars, the heatsink moves up a little bit and becomes loose

where are the clips supposed to sit on the sink, just below the fan or in the little crevice?

OK, it seems to have worked
but I think it isn't making good contact with the core, cause the temps n the bios are almost 60 C (i made sure I tighten it until it cannot be tightened any more)

On the CPU, I do have that protective pad for the core which I peeled off the CT-479... would that prevent the 7000cu from making good contact with the core?

EDIT: It's defnitely not making good contact
I booted into BIOS and lightly pushed on the isnk, and temps dropped down to 35

How safe is it to take the protective pad off??? ... the 7000cu is not that light...

The protective bad wouldnt' prevent it from getting good contact.

In this pic you can sorta see how I mounted mine

It was a perfect fit

I did it this way:

self made iron or alu bar

6 mm x 6 mm x 80 mm (straight) (http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showpost.php?p=1332001&postcount=9)

Worked perfect!
