The problem is when I resume my desktop from standby, then the config (CPUz) show 6x126 = 756 Mhz instead of the default 16x126=2016Mhz!

It has worked perfectly some month but sundenly I became aware of the lower speed (don't know precisely when). I have afterwards reinstalled WinXP to try to solve the problem, but it hadn't any effect.

My setup:
- Pentium M processor Banias 1.6Ghz
- Asus P4GPL-X Motherboard with a 479CT-adapter
- WinXP

My poweroption is configured:
- Power sheme: ALWAYS ON
- Monitor, HD and and system standby are all set at NEVER.

My Bios:
- S3 Only (But have also tried automatically)

I mean that Speedstep only works on laptops. If it should be speedstep it would kick in also when I start it in normal mode (total rebote) which isn't happening.

This is when I boot normally (full boot):

This is when I have resumed from Standby:

Any ideas of what is happening and/or how to solve it?

Thanks for your quick reply, BUT speedstep shouldn't work at desktop pc's! Or have I just misunderstood it?

I think I've seen a case where it did work. it certainly seems that's what's happening here
did you look in the BIOS for an option to turn it off? if there's such an option it might be set to AUTO or something

I really have not done anything special. I have just reset my bios but no result. There isn't any option i my bios regarding "speed step" or something like it. IF it should be speed step then it also should kick in when I boot normally (16x) and slow down to 6x when windows is idle but it doesn't.
Isnt it right.

I have just found out that the multiplier isnt a problem when I have enabled my keyboard to "Allow this device to wake up from standby". The only thing is just that it cant be enabled because I then get this error: "HID keyboard device is preventing the machine from entering standby".

I have afterwards read alot about this issue which is very common when trying to get it to Standby.

Any help to solve it?
