How hard would it be to use helium as a low stage refrigerant in a cascade or autocascade? Is it even possible? Heliums boiling point is -268, does it have good capacity? I think that would be a record breaker, almost absolute zero!!!!!!!!!!

That would screw over your processor.

very very hard and expensive, one guy on an old board bught a liquid helium production plant, it used 5KW/H and he had to have a dedicated line installed by the hydro company to run it!
Uhm he didn't ask what it would do to his processor, he asked how hard and was it possible.
Possible Yes
Practicle No

Has anyone ever tested cpu's at thease tempatures or is just uncharted water?

Uncharted and not worth charting. Ak_47_boy, I saw your posts on EOCF, please dont try any form of cascade before doing a single stage. Your putting yourself in mortal danger.

I'm seconding Noob, unless you have experiance with high pressure gasses and working around dangerus equipment wait till you gain more experiance.
If some thing goes badly wrong it will easily kill you, take it slow and learn, and be very therough in all your ventures!

And with stuff like helium we're talking massive pressures.

I can't build anything, i live in canada. Im screwed for any stage :(
I just figured that out about a day ago.
Im sad as f

You can use R290 (propane).

since absolute zero is -273, good luck with -268 hehe.

Screwed how?? I live in Nova Scotia and i've built a 2 stage 2hp -100c 290/Co2 cascade and a single stage with 290/Co2 blend that gets to -82.5c no load so remind me again how ur screwed???

That's the right stuff to play with helium.
But you must save $$ for the raw material and the power bill.
