preparing for conroe

i'm an amd guy, but conroe seems impressive while am2 seems depressing. i've got a decent amd rig now, but it wouldnt hurt to have another. to my knowledge, conroe will continue to use lga775 right? the only things i've picked out so far is a intel d 920, and an ASUS P5WD2-E Premium which seems to be the choice of many intel users. now for the memory. i'm not sure how intel likes the memory. the latency is crazy on ddr2. can someone link me to good reliable memory?

Right now it is still a gamble to buy a 975 board and expect to be able to use it with a Conroe. Each day there is another article or person saying that 975X will support Conroe, but as yet I don't know of anything concrete from either Intel or the mobo makers.
