View Full Version : D2OL Stats Changes

From Adam Hughes on D2OL Forum:
"As part of the switchover to Phase II of this project, I plan to deploy a slightly updated statics server aimed at better aligning the statistics credited to a node ( or a member or a team) with the tasks actually assigned to that node. This change consists of two parts as follows:
1) When a task is assigned to a node, a database entry will be made that will uniquely identify the task as belonging to that node.
2) When the statistics processor runs to update node statistics, an attempt will be made to retrieve the assigned task from the database. If the task is found, the node will be credited accordingly, and THE ASSIGNED TASK WILL BE DELETED from the database. If the task is not found, the node will not be credited.
As you can see, submitting copies of the same results over and over will no longer result in accumulated statistics. There will now be a one-to-one relation between assigned tasks and the set of results credited to a node. Note that if your node happens to be assigned the same task at a later time (a valid situation), a new database entry will be created, and the node will be credited once for completing the new instance of the task.
This update will also form the basis of possible future changes.
Thanks, and let me know if you have questions or concerns. "

DPC will, of course, be expected to match or exceed its performance of the last several months during the first months of the new phase.

I think DPC won't put much power on it anymore.
We as TCF are moving now to Rosetta. First we wanna see a stable project with some feedback about the results.
After that it's possible to see the main power of TCF back!

if the points from january until now are added to the ones before those scores should be different
And according to the Free-DC stats, we would still be ahead but the Cows are saying that they submitted some work that didn't get added... :yawn2:
DPC will, of course, be expected to match or exceed its performance of the last several months during the first months of the new phase.
 How... aren't they going to start cross-referencing results to make sure you only get credit one time for each work unit? ;)

we begun saving for a birthday flush before the crash. All unadded nodes from before the crash have to be added by adam, which will be done somewhere this week
Ok... just did a little looking and I'm lost at where you think you are going to make up the points...
The Free-DC stats that were saved at the moment of the crash...
http://stats.free-dc.org/new/projpage.php?proj=d2ol
show a difference of 806,354.
The Hall-of-Fame stats that the D2OL people "recovered"...
http://app.d2ol.com/stats/teams.100.htm
show a difference of 920,919.
Where exactly are these magical beans... errr... I mean points? The official stats already show *more* points for both teams than actually existed on the day of the crash?

ned bigbenlab has also 160K on their unadded nodes from before crash ;)
and if i am right, our 200K flush last week isn't added yet on the HoF you can see now :)
sorry, but the #1 is ours :)
cheers

Can you guys HONESTLY say that you didnt cheat (with your hand on a bible)?? The fact that all of the updates done by ICA were all evenly divisible by 11 or something was very odd. If you guys can honestly say that you didnt cheat, then I congratulate you guys on your fine effort.

no, divisible by 10, every single one of their updates ended with a 0 UNTIL we said something about it (which that went on for about 5 days). after we mentioned it, it started showing up as random numbers again, meaning they probably dumped what they actually produced.

Don't begin again about that. And i f you wanna see our day by day statics from our last flush en coming 805K, you can have a look here (http://forum.teamcoldfusion.nl/viewforum.php?f=20&pc_tzo=7200&pc_d=20060404&pc_t=28315)

I still think that something stinks on the other side of the levee.
What's done is done, there is no changing the past. We can only learn from the mistakes made in the past.
Then I'll say congratulations to DPC on #1 in D2OL and end it there:toast:

In the past days, I've come to terms with what I beleive and want to leave d2ol somewhat in the past (atleast until it is out of "beta testing".
