'I love the smell of sirloin in the morning...'
So guys, whens the Bovine Bust Up exactly? What time GMT does it start at and for how long will this alledged stampede take place? What team should I join? I heard people talking about sub teams? Is there not just an Xreme team where you can see all the individual users. Noobatron here! I usually fold for boards.ie but for the Bovine Bust Up, I'll switch to Rosetta for you guys and see how we do. I had a quick read of the stickys very quickly as I'm in work here. I just don't want to pick the wrong team or make a f'#kup in team sellection. Every second counts! I'll be bringing a ramped up watercooled 3.4 Northy to the force and a 3.0Ghz prescott. Every little helps! :)

you can join any sub-team of XS Rosetta you want to, or you can just make your owen account and be by you self.
I choose to be by my self because i like to know what "I" have accomplished
if you want to see every person on XS rosett there is a link in my sig to the stats.
Nice to have you on the team, no get those comps. working.:stick:

Heheh! Thought you guys knew...
Doing another build today; finally got my used TAGAN 480W delivered yesterday. Got a used ( w Evercool chipset fan! :) ) DFI delivered Tuesday.
I need to switch some stuff around though. I'm taking an X2 out of a Biostar, replacing it with my 3800+ Venice that has been displaced and idle. Then I'm putting the X2 into the DFI; I need to be able to check it out well. It is an LDBHE and I was never able to fully push it with the Biostar. If it is real good, it will eventually go in a Mach II.
Anywhoo, end result will be one more, the idled Venice. Though production will take a minor temporary drop while I move stuff around.

'riptide' reporting for duty at 10:00 hours GMT. Yes the northwood is online. Might get it hard for the prescott. She's behind a large multinationals firewall and proxys based in Finland (the work rig). Those guys have our net access all locked up like fort knox!
Gonna have a word with the IT admin. about a work around. He's got a backup proxy address that he uses that does not have ports and :banana::banana::banana: locked down.
So I've been busy but to cut it short whens D day. I want to have a few ghetto watercooling solutions ready. This northy is very temp sensitive for da overklok

Alright, well goal 1 is done. The Venice is now in the Biostar and running at 2520; will fine tune it later. I know it is good for 2.7 GHz plus, but that is not my priority right now.
That is to get goal 2 done, which is to get the DFI/X2 together and up and running.
I want to fit a 120mm x 38mm fan on the TT BT, for this system. Does anyone know where I can find screws that will fit all the way through the fatter 38 mm Panaflo and into the BT shroud/mount? Would Radio Shack have them, or do I need to get them from some specialist-type shop?

Thanks for the tips on setting up that fan, guys.
Anyway, there is problems in Palookaville.
I'm getting the 4 LED - no boot thing. Fans and lights fire up, but then nothing, but those 4 friggin LEDs.
The hardware is:
x2~3800+
2 x 512 GSkill ( FX )
TAGAN 480W PSU
ATI 300 series VC
I've tried clearing CMOS, several times. Safe boot procedure a few times. One RAM stick only. A different VC card, a different PCI-e slot, different RAM. I'm doing an 8 hour battery out, clear CMOS thing right now.
I'm like, WTF. Sometimes these DFI boards can be such a pain in the arse! The first two I got were problem-free. The last one and this one haven't been.

You're going to have to test that CPU elsewhere. That's a horrible situation with 4 LEDS. With two DFI Experts and 2 x2 CPUs, I dread that. So far, so good. Best of luck serlv.

I've tried, in addition to the measures above, a different CPU, a different HSF, different RAM, and a diff PSU. No matter what, still 4 LEDs. The only thing I didn't do is pop a working BIOS chip out of another board and try that.
Its' going back.

Which Epox is that? I'm using a VDIMM modded 9NDA3+ that is pretty strong. Problem with Epox is VCore tends to fluctuate in OCing situations.

As far as phase goes that is gonna have to wait a bit longer.
Thanks.
BTW, I guessed wrong, and this isn't one of my LDBHE's. It is my first X2, a CCBWE ( or something ). At least I'll know which HS not to look under when it comes time to put it under the cold. :)

Hey. Just was looking at the stats. Cows memebers are increasing alot! And last report, average credit up to 184K. Couple of days ago we were due to overtake in 6.1 days. ad0 is supposed to have better voltage regulation i think, the voltages are much more stable and dont bounce as much as older revisions. it has a few extra capacitors on it as well, so that doesn't hurt
i forgot which rev was the bad revision, i have one of the earlier ones, AA0 or A00(if this is even a revision, been a while since i looked @ my board)

Well I've got 12 comps now... (although 2 have fallen from grace :( ). Well 10 comps running, come 24/7, some at office hours, some only in evening. Just noticed a lot of client errors on most of them. probably due to that dodgy 4.97 or whichever one it was. Costing me dearly that! Can't wait till it all stabilises today, and the machines have a day or so running and giving me a true value of what they're up to. They're all intel with exception of a single AMD - no dual core monsters, or 64 bit Unix/Linux ... but every little helps I suppose!

You can abort all the 4.97's, whether, or not, they've been started. Highlight, then click abort. Get 'em all, why mess wth 'em. Then do the "retry communications" thing and you should get all 4.98's...
Congrats on adding crunchers!

Question.... To increase my credit... would it be a good idea to heavily overclock my pc for the benchmarks and then be able to drop it down a bit for the 24/7 crunching? It seems like cheating but I mean... I'm sure a lot of people do it... I wonder should I redo the benchmarks with only basic XP setup running like a fresh install. Theres a lot of stuff running at same time.
I must say that I think the credit system needs to be revised a little...
Second question... My benchmarks for my northy 3.4 seem a little low. I see some 3.2 presHotts beating it... Maybe the bigger cache is an advantage..
Measured floating point speed 2379.99 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 2606.11 million ops/sec
ex2cib
04-13-2006, 09:35 AM
OCing to the max just for the bench isn't really worth it, and i dont like it. I feel its cheating because your system isn't actually running the WUs at that speed the benchmark is run

Are they doing a rebuild of the whole cable system in town or is this something I have to look forward to with Comcast when they take over here?
Are they doing a rebuild of the whole cable system in town or is this something I have to look forward to with Comcast when they take over here?
Well, I dunno.
After the last Noreaster storm many weeks ago my connectivity was down most of the times, aka 80% packet loss. Called them, they know of no problems, it is my fauls and I should reboot my machine. Days later they have the trucks running around changing all cables and the problem is gone. Of course they knew of no problems, right.
Got me an upgrade to 8 Mbit/sec, too.
However, after a few weeks of quiet they now have the repair trucks running around for weeks again, with lots of downtime.
The high temps in my machine room from the 8-core crashed two of the overclocked dual-cores, too, and yesterday evening I blew a fuse that I don't have access to so another 10 hours gone :)

Have you noticed that both our scores go up for a few days then drop and then go up again!! I love statistics... gonna watch this and see is there a pattern... like weekends and stuf... Even notice on Free DC that the cows are ahead earlier on in the day and then beat us before the end...
