Is there a definate answer which yields lower temps with phases change? Thanks in advance.

Ceramique. As5 crackles ( freezes up )

AS5 is good down to -50c after that ceramique is the way to go.

The rule of thumb for me is...
Ambient < Metallic thermal paste
Ambient > Ceramique or artificial paste

Ceramique for certain at below -50 temps. I prefer it at all below zero temps.

Ceramique rules all the way through, I use it for my plain old water system for my dual Xeon rig and it does great, I use it even for cooling industrial MosFETs and I see a diferance in heat exchange and performance! it is thee way to go indeed!!
