I know it dosent compare to the 20k+ others are getting, but its a big accomplishment for me. My vid card is really holding me back though, 240mhz ram on a 8500 dosen't really = performance.

1700+ tbred B JIUCB 0250 @ 2016 (10.5x192) @ 1.725v
Epox 8RDA+ w/1.79vdd
2x256mb pny pc2100 (remarked 2700)
Sapphire Radeon 8500le 128mb (stock was 250/230)
All cooling is air, cpu heatsink is AX-7 w/panaflow H1A (39cfm 32dba)
<all the other usual stuff>

I think this is a good indication that I can acheive an impressive score with a better card, I'm #55 of 8500 cards from 1900 to 2100mhz, although I think I could be in the top 10-20 if I had a normally clocked card :(

Good on ya!:toast:
Yep I'd say it's definitely your video card that's holding your score back...

A better one (video card) and an even higher memory fsb speed would improve things a lot...

Congrats. Not bad for that setup, especially with that low clocked 8500.

I think I might push it to 195x10.5 for 2048, my card seems to scale well with cpu speed in this range. I gan about 100 marks per 25mhz which I feel is decent for this card. I am running 1.725v right now and I love the low temps but I think a bit more voltage might be worth it for the speed.

My ram sucks but I cant complain, it cost me 70$ for both sticks (35 each) and I got most of that back in rebates. Total cost was around $5 a stick! And that was back when ram was still near 100$ a stick for 256mb pc2700. I have been thinking of upgrading it but for the cost I would be much better off getting a 9500 or 700 pro or other good card.

Oh and also I just oc'd again, getting right around 10150 consistently at 10.5x193, 10.5x194, and 10.5x195, so I think the card is hitting its max with this setup. The 10.5x194 needs another .05v bump on the cpu so im keeping it at 10.5x193 permanenty. I kind of wish I would have gotten the 2100+ tbred B now, but this system really is a budget one. Everything has been cheap or refurb except the mobo.

Also yes, the lower vid ram speed really is holding me back vs. other 8500 cards. The ram I have gets really hot, but there is a clear level that causes artifacts (249.5 is stable, 250 is not) immediately, so I think it could use a couple ramsinks.

The BIG thing I would like to do is to get better gpu cooling. The gpu gets very hot and isn't stable past around 300, and I would like to go further. Why? The stock 250 vs 300 gave me 1k 3dmarks which I think is extremely good for this type of card. I think I can get another 10-15 with good cooling.

actually i was refering to your video ram,
but if they both suck, thats cool too :p
i certainly know that feeling...

i happened to be building a computer a month ago, and i scored the 2100+ and PC3500C2 ram for "free" (for building the computer;) )

I wish! I think that will have to wait for my next vid card :(

But I will be leaving for 4 months and have no access to a computer, so I probably wont be able to buy one until this fall when the next generation of cards are out.
