would this cooler (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/54/products_id/163) be a good idea to pick up for my board thats on the way? it looks similar to the one on my AT7 MAX2 chipset. except it comes with a SB cooler as well.

The heatsink would be fine yes, but the fan would be a bit overkill.

I would recommend a small CPU HSF instead of that Iceberg. You could probably use the Iceberg for the SB instead. That's what I did...

If you're running stock voltages, then maybe it will work fine, but I don't think it would be worth the $$...

A lot of people have placed the stock cooler on the SB and pruchased something better for the NB.

That setup is great for the 8RDA+.

Hmm.. how would one fit a small socket A heatsink on a northbridge? AS Epoxy?

If so.. maybe you should check out this: http://www.svcompucycle.com/thersk6soca3.html (is this too heavy?)

or even this: http://www.svcompucycle.com/svcgc21.html for 2 dollars.

on the 8rda+ that I have here, Rev 1.1 and A3 on the NB stepping.....there are holes for push pins for a HS on both the SB and the NB :)

I have attached an old low profile HS from an old KR7A. I had to take the fan off though due to it being only a small 2 pin connector. Im going to get another 40mm fan, maybe a 8cfm sunon and put it on this SB low profile hs.

For my NB, Im just using the default cooler with some AS3. System is only setup for little testing this weekend so havnt put proper cooler on the NB. Ill be using a Thermaltake Tiger I think....not 100% sure yet...Id prefer a cooler with push pins rather than having to epox the tiger....

I want the iceberg, but cant get it here in Australia, and www.8rda.com say the CORB is just a little too big

hmmmmmm

ps
Heres a piccie :)

I know what you mean...
I did not use epoxy though either. I used a long zip tie that fit nicely through the holes and down the middle of the HSF that I used for the NB. It works great!!

I'll try to get my hands on a digicam to show some pics of it. It came out sweet!! :D

Hey great stuff RuKuS :D

I have for now as you know just used the default cooler on the NB but I have a 40mm fan blowing on it also.....sits at about 35dc according to a senfu probe.

On the SB cooler, the pic above, I have just put a default p3 cooler fan over the top of it. It fits nicely with the legs on the board and the fan bit over the HS. Sits at about 30dc now.

Ill get a piccie soon :)

get a large alu sink that is longer than the mounting holes and drill 2 holes in it. I took my p4 cooler to do this and at 1.87v my nb is cool to the touch with a 40mm slow gpu fan.

I tried fitting a amd stock cooler around there but I will have trouble fitting my vapo kit on I think.

Not an option for me to get a large HS at this stage....:(

I just put some AS3 under the stock heatsink and superglued a 60mm fan on top of it. Running stable with vdd @ 1.808. And, don't worry about SB unless you plan to go higher than that.
