definition of powder coat: A technique for applying paint to metal surfaces. The metal is covered with a powder of dry paint particles and is baked in an oven. This causes the powder to melt and harden into a tough, colorful finish.

Ahh I see, so it's like the laser printer of painting, can you use it on plastics?

How fine is the particle and how smooth can it go?

think of powder coating as the best paint you could get for your case. glossy and hard finish.

powder coat isnt electrocstatic powder that applies to the metal surface when is grounded ? and then baked

annodizing is better ;)

annodizing is thougher, but powder coat should be more smooth and reflective.
Alright, did some research:
powder coat gun sends charged powder to the metal object being painted, powder sticks on, then bake n' melt
the powder is coarser than flour
tough finish, some flexible, epoxy can also be used
efficient (90% compared to liquid paint 60%)

the finish is very strong. So stong in fact i can smack a pound coin on the finish and it doesn't chrip or mark it

Anodizing is NOT better than a good powdercoat job. Spill rad coolant on your nice red anodising job, and it can literally strip it right off, and corrode the metal.
Do the same on a good PC, and wipe it right off. No harm done.
I also have an "in" with a local 'coater, and was offered to have some pieces done for free to test clearences and quality.
This guy tole me also, think of any color, and he can make it in a powdercoating. With around 14 different finishes also, from smooth, to hammered, to solid color, and marblized.

so i was right the powder coat is a electrostatic powder the powder is postive while the metal is grounded that is why it sticks to it then they bake it....

yep. it's awsome to watch, you can litterally watch the material arc and fly to the metal.

Wouldn't aluminum cases warp in the over, or is it not that kind of oven?

no, it would have to be about three times as hot

There are home-brew kits you can buy online, that use an ordinary kitchen oven and an aircompressor. The pro ovens, get a bit hotter than that, but not much i think.
