What do you guys think?

Is it worth buy that card or should i just stick with the Radeon 9700 Pro?

What do you guys think?

Of course its worth it dont be silly:)
SOmething new and different to play is the best part of this stuff.
I cant speak for anybody else but i am damn tired of ati's right now.
And cant wait to get it:)

I was thinking the same thing.

I am bored of the ATI RAdeon9700 Pro.

What do you think about the overclocking potential of the GeforceFX?

I heard it gets hot just from normal use already.

Volt modding it will damage it in seconds.

Im sure once the IQ is gone the FX will take the tops spots on the orb.

I will move over to FX first opertunity for benching but keep the R9700 on my gaming rig.

R350 will keep things very interesting.

I think I'm going to skip the FX
Going to Cebit to see the new R350 and wait for that one.

... just overclock you 9700... no point spending money on the FX (FiX)

Hold off for a few weeks... the R350 should leave the FiX in the dust again without too much trouble...

I'll wait, I'll see what others do with it. I'm Broke:D

Hey, let if me know when you're going. I might be interessted in going too. Perhaps we might go together then.

The heatsink on the GeforceFX seems difficult to remove.

Wonder how we can make the GPU cooler and make it overclock higher.

I surely am very bored with the Radeon 9700 Pro.

The ATI R350 will not release until late March or early April. ATI will announce it at Cebit in March and the cards should be out a week or two after that.

I think it's just like the Abit OTES card as far as the heatsink. It comes off easy actually and there is plenty of room after that. The problem with the Otes is the holes were not like the other cards I don't think, they don't line up.
I don't need the holes myself but it would mean a Swiftech block, or somthing simular, might not hook up.

Come on give the GeforceFX a try and then you and DDTUNG can figure out how to mod the GeforceFX.

You guys always come up with good mods. I remember the Radeon 9700 Pro.

I don't know but surely I will be tempted to get the GeforceFX when I see the boxes at the stores.

Something new and I won't buy it?????

The only thing that worries me is if the GeforceFx gets hot very fast and if it can't overclock very high, then the Radeon 9700 Pro (440mhz core and 365mhz memory) will be faster in 3DMark.

Do you think the GeforceFX can overclock high enough to beat the Radeon 9700 Pro (440mhz core and 365mhz mem) on air cooling?

I was under the impression the GFFX will have the 4 holes around the GPU same as G4. This will allow a block such as MCW50-T to be afixed.

No I don't think it will overclock high enough. The ATI can Overclock very high, I can't see the FX going that far. I get a 185 Mhz Overclock out of my Radeon:D To get 180 will be hard to do so it probably wont out run the 9700.

Lord,
I'm not sure myself to tell you the truth.

So for GeforceFX is not the card to get for 3DMark benchmarking.

Hmmmm.

If u have a 9700pro i think it would be a waste to get the fx. If ur a die hard nvidia fan stuck with a ti4200 go for it and tall us how u do. I myself am happy with the 9700 and the pelt i have to put on it will make me more happy. Although the r350 will put everyone to shame and quickley.

Lets keep the minds open till we actually see a card in somebodys posession.
cause im thinking owning in a big way my friend:)
THere are some who are bound buy things they cannot control and cannot open lips for fear of a swift and just legal battle.

OPP,
If this image is anything to go by, one can see the pcb has holes for the blow dryer and also for 4 hole cooling solutions.

for all we know, the FX will rule 3Dmark 03 ... although I'm not sure how many DX9 tests it will have to make a difference (assuming for a second the FX will be better in DX9 than the R300)

Why don't you guys ask some of the key guys at Madonion to see how the GeforceFx performs in 3DMark 2003?

I am sure those guys must have tested the GeforceFX with 3DMark 2003.

I want to see what other people can do with the fx...

Anyone have a rough guess as to when R350 will be out?

I am told that it may be out by late March or early April.

So we still have about a month an a half.

I'm holding off fer the R350 too... having seen specs and some prelim results on benches etc it's just not an economic upgrade for R9700Pro owners to move to the FX. Wait for the R350, sell the R300... that seems like the most workable plan at the moment... might just be fun to beat down the new FX owners with R9700Pros just to say "told ya so! ner ner!" and then clear em out of the pond when the R350 hits the streets...

But what if Nvidia releases newer drivers with 25% increase in performance and then announces a faster card to release in May or June?

GeForceFX Reborn:

I know what you are thinking, "Already?" We were lucky enough to put our hands on a revamped GeForceFX 5800 Ultra on Monday and I can say that NVIDIA has moved their GFFX flagship in the right direction.

http://www.hardocp.com/images/news/1044366503GOGQTJPxPi_1_1_l.jpg

While physically identical in the picture above, except for the coloration of the ducting system, these are two very different GFFX Ultra cards. This new GFFX cooling system does not run in 2D operation, making it quieter than any other 3D cards in this current generation while not being used in a gaming capacity. When the GFFX Ultra is utilized in a 3D application, the fan system spins up and is still about as loud as it was before. NVIDIA reports it to be around 5dBa quieter than the models we saw Web reviews based on last week.

I gamed for around five hours on Monday with the card installed in my own case and I left the side cover off. The case sits at my feet. I found game play in UT2K3, MOHAA, Wolfenstein, and NFSHP2 to be very playable at 12x10 with 4XAA and 8XAF turned on. BF1942 was acting up on my card but after talking to NVIDIA, I am not sure if it is a driver glitch on their end of a system glitch on my end. Still, it is said to be working great at the NVIDIA labs in Austin, TX. I tend to game with the sound turned on, so I did not find the cooling system on the GFFX Ultra to be an issue at all, but we can all argue about that later.

Now that the noise is gone in 2D, and if it ends up on the shelves this way, there are going to be a lot more folks buying the GFFX Ultra and keeping it. Still, if you are used to a very quiet computing environment, the GFFX is most likely not for you.... but then again those games listed above probably are not either.
