Admitingly I never liked obliv untill now, but, this release is really facinating, its already gotten 9.5/10 and 93%/100% reviews, plus support for dual cores and what not make it a prime candidate for benchies and eye candy :toast:

Oh my god, SOO I am ALMOST finished with my custom case/water chiller, but not enough to put my computer in it. So I got my computer setup on my desk naked, everything is hooked up and I forgot my damn keyboard at home, and none of my roomates have an extra. So I got to go pick up a damn $5 keyboard at radio shack.

I will tomorrow night. Game is a bit harder than I thought, well harder than Morrowind initially was I think.

I know what you mean re Elder Scrolls 3. Tried it the other day and could just not get used to the combat system, though that seems to have improved now.

The combat system is definitely a major improvement over Morrowind, much more realistic.

Could anyone with Oblivion do some performance comparisons between a x1800 or x1900 vs a 7800 or 7900?
Could people with simmilar specs post an average FPS with their x1900 or 7900 card?
I want to know if ATi or nVidia has an advantage in Ovlivion so I can update my system and buy the game

My settings *everything stock* I lag in the outside world with 3 bambi's running around in the pasture @ Ultra high settings.

Someone else done a test on these forums with near identical machines except 1 had a 1900XT and the other 7900GTX. The ATi just came out on top irc. I'll see if I can find the thread.

I am set at 1280 x 1024, everything high with HDR and I run flawlessly. Running stock 3700+ Sandy, 1 gb of OCZ plant Rev 2 and a eVGA 7800GTX 256.

WOW. Thanks Breeze
He's compareing a stock x1900xt vs a 7900 GTX Superclocked.
The Superclocked version is 690/1760 isntead of 650/1600, so It's a few FPS faster than the average 7900 GTX
If he's acurate, then the x1900xt's advantage may be simmilar to ATi's advantage on FEAR.
That's pretty sweet considering the difference between the Superclocked and a regular XT. The jump should be a bit more with a XTX. :)
I guess Ill go with ATi again :p: Ive never gone to the green side, and was about to with the 7800 and 7900 series, but the x1800 and x1900 proved to be superior in image quality and performance in the most popular games.
So I guess Im getting a x1900xtx with a DangerDen Maze4 or a Cooltechnica MP-1 :)
Anyone think Im making the wrong choice?
If so, why should I go with nVidia instead of ATi?
What's the best deal for a x1900xtx below $500?

No probs.
The ATi certainly looks the way to go.

Nvidia and ATI are coming with new drivers with optimalizations for oblivion i wonder what kidn fo a boost we can expect.
the Nvidia one should hit this week and ATIs next month.
so Turok id wait till the 10th of april orso to see how u cna compaire both.
that and a 7900gt is a bit cheaper then a x1900xt.
am most likely picking up 2GB today and in a week or 3 a X2 :)

Ok now I'm pi**ed with Take 2. What is this :banana::banana::banana: about releasing games in different dates USA / EU? I can understand there are differences in shipping, etc. But what I can't understand is I've gone to the shop, I've had the box game in my hands but the guy told me Take 2 said them not to sell it until Friday.
That's just nuts. Makes me want to download it P2P and never buy it...
Why would Take 2 do that? to stick to the word of 24th March launch?

@evil_raver: centro mail aka game.es has them in stock in Canarias. Maybe there are some strange international laws you guys can avoid. I was thinking of Seur 24 or something simmilar for you to send me a copy :D, but the guy at game.es here in Zaragoza told me he will sell it tomorrow as a special favour (I know him from Quake 2 times :D)
Back to the thread: Isn't there any performance review out there yet? I've searched Anand, Xbitlabs, bit-tech, toms, hexus.net, [H] and the only thing is a thread at [H]forums. I want a detailed roundup ATI and nVidia as I want a new GPU (maybe two? :D)

If nVidia is going to release their Oblivion optimized drivers verry soon, then I should ask DILLY if he could do a new benchmark with the new nVidia driver.
If nVidia's driver improvements dont boost above ATi's current drivers, then obviously the performance leap will be even bigger when ATi releases their optimized driver.
Ill PM him to see if he could do a side-by-side comparison when the new nVidia driver releases with a FPS counter and audio settings disabled.

Does the grass run on physics?
If so, then a PPU could become useful

No, for the PPU to be usefull if any the game needs to support it to begin with.
