hi:cool:
This is my first post here:woot: :woot: :woot:I am glad to be here and im sure that i ll learn many things here.:D
ok i bought some hardware yesteday: stacker 830
: amd 3700(kab2e)
: dfi ut ultra d
:ocz 520 modstream
I put my "old'raptor 36gb without format it(it has a version of windows xp with an A8N-E mobo)
So,i boot my computer too see if i could go in windows without format my old instalation. It was a surprise for me to see that i could go in my old installation of xp.Also, windows loaded some things that a dont remember(certainly due of my new motherboard). At this point,i restarted my computer to make a fresh instalation of xp,after the instalation of windows, my computer reboot and go at the boot menu screen.(hope you know what i mean)
I tried each type of boot(safe mode...with command...last know good setting..ect)and it cant go futher,,,the computer reboot...
I tried to reinstall windows 6 times...always the same problem.
I tried on an other hdd...same things...
I tried to boot on safe mode(option on dfi board)
I tried to clear the cmos with the jumper..doest work
So i hope you will have an idea of what i could do :)

im just not following.
so u got all your hardware hooked up
nothing is oced
all voltages are correct for stock, nothing lower nothing higher
is the drive sata? if so, during windows install right at the beginning when its telling you what its doing it will say something like "if raid controller drivers needed press F6" or something, do it and install the drivers from floppy.
install windows....
auto reboot, continues to install windows and asks for some info like where you live, etc
your in windows
install drivers, chipset first.
you should be all set.

well it will ask for raid controller drivers, you press F6(i think its F6 but it will tell you anyways) and install the drivers for your sata controller.

You don't need raid drivers for a single raptor.. try swapping the memory from the oranges to yellows or vice versa if in dual channel mode. also make sure all power connections are good and tight, mobo and HDDs. also try plugging sata cable in to one of the other spots on the board.
WELCOME TO XS BTW.... ever heard of Rosetta@home? Shoot me a PM if you want to learn more.

no he doesnt need raid drivers, but the prompt saying "if you need to install raid drivers press F6 now" or something is when you press F6 and install the sata's controller drivers.

windows installs a generic hdd controller right? Then once the new format/install is in place then update chipset drivers from DFI as you said above :)

should install some drivers for some sata controllers and yes a generic hdd driver, i however had to install my personal sata controller's drivers for the windows installation to work right.
