Hi

Why is it that whenever one pushes these boards too far...that instead of the usual responses, we can sometimes get a bios chip corruption on the 8rda?

Yesterday, upon arrival home from work...instead of xp desktop greeting me, I got a corrupted screen and a siren from inside the case.

I reflashed several times, with the most recent bios again. ALthough it did get once into windows, it would fail to reboot after thaT. i called Epox, and he didnt really have an answer, beyond relashing.

I decided to physically remove the chip for an hour, and then upon reinstalling, reflash with the 1/17/03 version.

This time success.

This has never happened to me before. Why does o/cing excessively affect this nforce this way?

not sure but i have the same problem after running high voltages on cpu and vdd.i have to remove power cord from power supply and then clear cmos before i try to flash again.then on reboot i do the same one more time.this seams to flush out the data better for me.now i am slowly going back up to speed.

I have had to hot flash my 8RDA+ bios chip 3 times by booting up with a bios chip borrowed from OP. :(

Try replacing your battery. It's a long shot but worth the $2 if it fixes it.

You might want to post this issue in the Epox section of the amdforums (http://www.amdforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=9) as there is an Epox tech answering everyday...

Hi

Thanks. I will do so.

FTR, upon arriving home and firing up the beast, I was once again greeted with a "siren".

However, this time, I shutdown the system, and upon repowering, hit insert key and went directly into the bios. All my settings were in tact, so I took a chance...saved them, and attemped another boot.

Success.

Yes im having similar problems......well basically the same problem. But it only seems to be happening with my tbred 2100B and not with my 2400B Tbred. Ive posted a more detailed question in Oppainters thread - I think maybe he is having similar issues.

Solved the issue for me. Seems as though it was a badly seated water block on the cpu. It was uneven pressure exerted on the cpu.....I know because I removed the block and only half of the core was covered in thermal goop. Running happily now.

This does NOT only happen on the Epox motherboards.

It happens on Asus A7N8X motherboards too!!

Maybe a problem with the Award BIOS with Nforce2 chipsets???

They should implement dual BIOS or I read somewhere about BIOS saviour or something..
