so I'm following the instructions for the STORM installation and it says, in order from bottom to top, to have the counter plate, then the mobo, then to use the retention plate followed by two plastic spacers, then the STORM. Everything makes sense up to the plastic spacers. I put the spacers down on the retention plate and the STORM down on top of the spacers, but it felt like the STORM never touched the core, so i lifted it up and there was NO as5 on the bottom of the STORM (basically, it never touched the CPU). then i thought maybe if i complete the installation the pressure on the springs when i tighten down the block would push it down onto the core. WRONG. I uninstalled it right away and still, no as5 on the STORM.

so now i'm thinking dumping the spacers and drop the STORM directly on the core, followed the by the springs and tension spacers and screwing it down. good thing is it's spring loaded so i can control how much pressure to apply as i screw it down. at the same time, i don't want to apply TOO much pressure, jeopardizing the core.

anyway, some help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have no IHS you have to remove the spacers :)

this a naked or coverd core?

yeah, naked. it's mounted now. have another question...before screwing in the barbs, should i wrap some teflon tape around the threads? noticed there's a rubber grommet that i assume is there to help complete the seal, so i'm guessing it's not necessary, but wanted to ask regardless.

Multiple redundancy is never a bad thing, some PTFE wont hurt.

Also be careful of any torque the tube coule be applying to the berans, cause if its strong enough it will unscrew the barbs and leak water all over your pc :)

no not use any tape on o-ringed (rubber grommet) fittings just torque them 20inch-pounds

it doesn't say in the manual, but I assume the in-port is in the center and the out-port is off-center?

thunderstruck!

Yep. Good assumption.
