hi there

just had a reformat so i was putting my main games on again, all went fine apart from NFSMW, i try to install it and just after the screen where it asks for your cd key i get this error (see pic) and it quits installation, its weird as i havnt had this error before and it installed just fine on my last windows install, is there any way of turning that warning off?

i've noticed something else a little strange which may be connected as well and thats the fact that when i install even WHQL certifyed drivers they always come up as 'these drivers have not passed WHQL blah blah blah' however it lets me install the drivers just not that game :s can nayone help?

There can be a possibility using ORCA, a Microsoft app used to edit .msi files. Its really useful when using 2K3 Server, as some games check the Windows version and if it differs from '98, Me, Xp or whatever is in the list you can't install it.

Google for "microsoft orca", its a .msi file too. Right click it and select Install.

Then open ORCA, and then open the .msi file in the NFS:MW folder. At this point you'll have to search through the entries to search if there is any protection that you can disable. If you find it, save the .msi and then reinstall.

Hope this helps.

BTW: You don't have to reinstall all the games when reformatting. If you have 2 partitions, install games in the D: (or whichever letter you use). Then after reinstall, you only have to make the shortcuts! :)
This is also true for almost all the software, everything apart from M$ soft, antiviurs, Nero, and little else needs to be reinstalled. You may have a look at the guide in my sig ;)

hi there

thanks for that, i'll give it ago, its wierd tho, i've installed it before with no probs, but now i get that error?!?!

btw: i had to reformat as i changed mobo and graphics card, backed up first though :) i also have quite a streamlined process now as i've installed windows so many times!

The trick of installing programs and games in a secondary partition/physical drive saves up a lot of time too. Never used the streamline thing, I tried nLite some time ago but it didn't work for me. I have to say I did a lot of tweaks (drivers, desktop and windows configs, etc) so maybe I surpassed some limit :D

But the only thing I did was configure it the same way I do after a fresh install. I followed a lot of guides etc. Maybe I try again without so many drivers, only the SATA to get the OS installed on my Raptors.
