I just got myself a GeForce4 MX440 SE 64MB display... as well as a temperature moniter. I'm just wondering where should i place the probe? MY local store people told me to place it between the Heatsink and GPU, is that ok?
Question 2: What's a safe temp and different levels limit for my GeForce4???
Note: My card runs @ 230/333 default
Thanks
Any comments are appreciated.

It seems that the people at your local store are not to be trusted... The only thing you EVER want between your heatsink and your GPU/CPU is thermal interface material... Best place to put it is right next to the GPU on the bottom of the heatsink. NOT in-between the heatsink and the GPU.

ooh ok, so i have to get some tape and stick it to the bottom of the HS??.. Thanks a lot! But can i put in between the GPU and heatsink if i apply a thicker layer of AS3??
What about the temps? What are the temps? I'm running 32 idle and 52 full load. IS that ok?
Thanks

Don't ever put it between the gpu and hsf. You only want a thin layer of AS3 on it.
And I put my (flat probes) with the edge touching the side of the gpu. And do the same with my cpu.

ooh ok, i get u guys now. But a GPU chip doesn't provide a "rooomy" place for my to put my flat head sensor, and my heatsink is really small, so there isn't any room for me to put to at the side (at the bottom) of my heatsink. What can i do?
Btw, mine is a HIS GeForce4SE and my temps are 33idle and 53 full load, is that safe? What's the maximun?

We arent hear to think of all the ideas for you, its your graphics card. Just expirement with the probe in diffrent places, since i dont know how your heatsink is i cant really help you. the one on my asus is large enouf that i could put a thermal sensor on it, but since the Geforce 1 asus has included thermal sensors on/near the core and memory. That seems safe to me, mine runs at 42gpu, 31mem. I dont know what to say if you have no where to put the probe, than you have no where to put it.....
