Hey guys Im thinking of taking the dive into watercooling
I have a few products in mind.
But I have a question on fans.
What would be a good cfm/sound level for fan that would go on BIP2?
Can you recommend a fan?
Thanks

Yate Loon D12SL-12. Simply the best silent fan out there. And only 5$ a pop.

I do not know much about fans yet but is two of those enough to cool a cpu and gpu on a BIP2?
thunderstruck!

A little bit OT, but would 38cm fans (Sanyo Denkis) be better for the MCR-220 Radiator than say 25cm yate loons? Is that rad better than the BIPII?

and would these

be better than the yate loons? they move more air at about the same sound level.

Companys lie like that. They say the max CFM with the lowest DBA a lot of the time.

Basically it works like this: the only reputable stats come from Yate Loon, Sanyo-Denki, Delta and Panasonic. *EVERYONE* else lies.
And yes, they will be enough. Thats what i run on my PA120.2, and my rig dumps a whole lot more heat than yours.
Unless youre particularly fond of noise, yates unbeatable, and youll find most people here either run Yates, Panaflos or SanAces, depending on noise tolerance and personal preference - all fans make noise, and the frequency they generate noise @ is different from make to make, so theres a personal quantityt involved in how noisy they are.
thnder the MCR is in between the PAs and BIPs as far as performance goes. Yes they will be better, but Yates are just fine. TBH, if you need more powerful fans than 45CFM-ish for a silent rad, your rad is too small or you should be looking at a core/HE/BIX with 100CFM fans.

I 3rd (or 4th or whatever) Yate Loons.
I am running 3 on my BIP3. Perfect if you don't want to run a fan controller.
Unless you want to be "different", get the black ones. I look over every once and a while, and the road side orange is the first thing I see. :)

I think that since my case is all black and im not really into all that fancy stuff, I be getting black fans.
Im not sure if I can fit all that stuff in my TX1050, so im thinking of upgrading to a CM Stacker. So which one do you think is best for holding the BIP II, the 810 or the STC-T01?
Can the BIP2 just be bolted onto the 2 120mm fans at the back of the 810?
creidiki

The STC-01 can fit it at the front (like i did in my 810 (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=92628)) or at the bottom with a DangerDen-made Shroud.
810 can only fit it at the front easily, dont know if the measure for the rear are correct for a BIP, but if you can give me the mm between the screw holes of the 2 120mm fans on the BIP, ill measure my case out and let you know :)

well according to this link it says 16, i dont know what that means

Now how did you mount the fans and rad in the front like taht?

I have a CM Stacker 810 which I modded the rear dual 120mm fan mounts to fit a PA120.2 onto, I had to exeternally mount it thou to clear the motherboard.
To mount a PA120.2 or a BIP2 in the front of the stacker under the hard drive rack, you only need to use some heavy duty velcro... unless you plan on LANing your stacker (yeah, right) the rad won't go anywhere.

Naw, wont fit in the rear. 30mm.
I used on of the anti-vibration pump mounts you can see on this page:
http://store.over-clock.com/Pumps___Accessories.html
I should imagine you can find the same stuff in the US. Then you prepare the holes in the side of the rad for M4 screws, screw the anti-vibe mounts into the rad, and use them to fix the rad into the 5.25" bays :)
It works quite nicely, and lets you use the front grill/filters for your rad, meaning it dont get dusty and just hoover the front of your case every couple of weeks (or weekly if youre a smoker like me) :D
Plus, i kind of like front-to-back airflow :)

You know, a moderator should really make a sticky on fan comments/reviews...
I've asked it a month ago, and countless others keep asking every week or so~

Mhhhh. Probvlem is, there arent any (or, enough) proper tests on fans apart from manufacturer stats. Considering how much bunkus data gets thrown around by people who merely rebadge fans, im not sure manufacturer data is enough for maxx to recommend them... guess there no harm in asking though :)

So is the kit you used the 3rd or 4th product down on that page?
And what exactly is an m4 screw? do i have to make my own threads in the rad?

Naw get delta's from http://excesssolutions.com/ they're like $4 each... at that price you could pick up a few, go with higher specs than you need and use a fan controller to bring the sound to an acceptable level... that way in the summer with heavy gaming or folding you can turn up the fan speed as needed and still stay respectable...
Personally I've used with success in 25mm WFB1212H and in 38mm AFB1212LE... currently though I'm using 2 WFB1212H @ 7V on a BIX II

Is Papst considered a reputable brand, too?
Also, Nexus fans are cherry-picked Yate Loons fans running at slightly lower speeds.

rewound engines, actually. nexus @ 12v = yate @ 9v. and waaaay overpriced, at least over here - cheaper to have 1 yate shipped from the us by j-mag than get 1 nexus locally
Dunno about papst, anyone have experience with them? Theyre pretty big arent they? Generally the big electronics manufacturers are good... yate loon is one of the smaller ones, delta for example makes all kinda fans.

even if the nexus and yates were at same price i would still get the yates

Well yeah, Yates (unlike so many other fans) dont seem to suffer from ticking or vibrations at low volts and/or on pwm, so deres not really much point to getting slower-wound versions of... imo :)
