I was wondering if you guys had any input on which raiator(s) and pump(s) i should go with, i plan on using a 320W(@12v 250W+/-) pelt on the cpu (maze4 AMD) and an 80W(@12v 50W+/-) (maze4 ATI x1900)

i planned on getting a black ice extreme II (or pro?) for the cpu loop and a balck ice pro 120 for the vid card loop using 2 danger den CSP-MAG pumps, 1/2" tubing, 120mm fan mount res, and silverstone FM121 120x25 110max cfm fans w/ 1"shrouds

do i need all this? or would it be good enough with just a black ice extreme and a D5 pump in one loop

also does anyone have an updated link on conformal coating application for video cards and processors with the IHS removed

thanks. Joe

Hey dude,
well first off I think this should be in the TEC cooling section of the forum (in the cooling catagory)...

For a large heatload you are gonna want to have large rads since they can dissipate more heat than the smaller ones, though you can always get smaller rads but the liquid temps will not hold very well.

I think the loop you have chosen will do pretty well from the components you have listed, the two separate loops will make it perform the best under heatload though tbh since the water doesnt have to travel through so many heat sources.

Under my -34*C vapo I have used vasaline in and around my socket, works a dream and is soo easy to get hold of.

You can always use nail varnish or di-electric grease though if ya have any lieing around - best of luck dude, cant wait to see it all running! :toast:

Those dilusional enought to go TEC these days (ME) don't use conformal coating anymore. Dielectric grease and neoprene are enough.

The D5 should be enough, but you need some serious rad action. If i had known what I was doing when I started, I'd have bought 2 swiftech mcr-220 rads from Jab-tech.

The D is good, but if you haven't bought it AND you have the space, you might want to try to go for an Iwaki MD-20RZG on ebay. These are fairly common on ebay, VERY powerful, and cheap. I got mine for less than $20 shipped. BUT they are pretty big.

Also, a 50W tec is not going to be enough for a x1900. You will probably need another 320W for that. In which case, you will probably need a 600W meanwell.

Why not do a bong cooler?

as interesting as a bong cooler sounds , i use them for "tabaco" :bows: products. :p:

if there is a moderator that could move the tread to the TEC section that would be great, i didnt even realize there was one, 4am things start to get a little blurry :p:

I love the home made setups some of u have but for my system i want it to look like it belongs in the case, i have things planned out pretty well layout wise, there wont be much extra tubing taking away flow, my case has tons of air flow. iwaki pumps are nice but they are to huge for me

is anyone in the forums using the CSP-MAG pumps on a tec setup?? tried searching but no luck, dangerden has some decent reviews but no one is using them with pelts, it almost seems like its just a modded DDC in a better looking shell.

i tought conformal coating was used on the back of the board? everyone uses dielectric grease all over now? when the ISH is removed you smear it all over the newly exposed capacitors? and what about vid card precautions or is it even worth putting a TEC on it.

i could allways just run a totally separate loop to the ATI GPU(NO TEC) which brings up another question if i where to cool the vid card in its own loop with no tec would a BIpro be enough, or is it worth loosing another 5 1/4 slot and go with the BIextreme. i cant quite remember (lack of sleep) but i thought i read somewhere they can create up to 200 watts with a high oc, please correct me if im wrong

thanks joe

You can't use bong coolers for long since you can't use any coolant. The blocks would corrode. If you add any coolant (especially stuff like glycol) it can do funny stuff to you when you breathe it

You really dont need coolant. I run tap water for 9 months at a time then replace tubes and I have no corrosion problems.

Or you could just use Distilled H20 which costs like 75cents at wal-mart and just replace the water every 9 months INSTEAD OF ALL THE TUBING!!! YAY!!!!!

9 months just happens to be when I get a new case. :)
