I am very curious why the silversone htpc cases are so expensive.

I don't know exactly for the Silverstone cases, but for most cases I've seen that are made especially for HTPC's are expensive. This is because they are made to be virtually silent. Also extra sound-proofing design in the cabinet seems to really jack up the price.

they're expensive because they usually include the VFD units which costs around $75+ themselves. try looking at a LC-17 which doesn't include one and only costs around $110.
